Pros: Beautiful, small, affordable, and has extremely friendly people!
Cons: Some air pollution. Food can be a little bit pricey because it may be imported.
Rarotonga was one of my last stops during a recent Round-the-World trip. Coming from New Zealand, it was a great change to be in the warm and tropical surroundings. One of the first things that struck us was the friendliness of the people. Even when ...

The Dirt On This Tarnished South Pacific Paradise

by siddy , Oct 12 '03
Pros: 115 Shades of blue can be found here.

Rarotonga

by lbestwick , Aug 08 '02
Pros: Rarotonga is beautiful
Cons: Some resorts may be a little dated
My husband and I travelled in mid July at 1.00am on a lonely Saturday night from Auckland airport. We nearly never went to Rarotonga as my husband, a Kiwi, thought of Rarotonga as perhaps us Brits think of the Costa Brava.

On arrival we were...

Pros: Warm water and warm-hearted people. Empty beaches and terrific prices.
Cons: Airfare is expensive and the flight is long. Some recent environmental concerns.
Here is what I WANT to say about Rarotonga: "Don't go there! It's the worse place I've even been. The water is polluted and the beaches littered with medical waste. There are deadly spiders, scorpions and snakes everywhere. Moaist rebels control the ...

by 130Guy , Oct 29 '00
Pros: Unspoiled beauty. A true escape.
Cons: Accommodations lean towards the more primitive
