Pros: Great weather, cool breeze, Beautiful scenery, Lots of fun, great hospitality, Great food, Mellow, Peaceful Cons: Typhoons, Expensive hotels and certain stores
I’ve lived on Guam for fourteen years. I was born and raised on Guam, but left to upstate New York (which is nothing compared to Guam). The experiences I’ve faced are worth it. The Island/Area The island is about 50 miles long ...

Pros: Lots of fun, safe, unique, and beautiful activities and things to see. Cons: Expensive, not much to do for families or children after sunset.
After spending four months on the island of Guam I've experienced most of what the island has to offer, the good and the bad. Guam has a very unique history and culture that is well worth the experience. The Island Guam is located in the western ...

Pros: Plenty to see and do. Hard to find yourself bored. Cons: Hot and Humid during the day. Can be expensive if not careful.
Once off the plane and onto the Ramp of Guam's airport I was overwhelmed by the overbearing humidity only slightly tempered by the evening breezes off of the ocean.
A 20 minute ride and we were changing clothes in the OUTRIGGER Hotel in...

Pros: Lots do and see, the food! Cons: Expensive, hot and humid
Guam has always been home to me and since I have moved to Washington I find that very few people know anything about Guam so I thought I would share a bit of history about Guam.
Guam is a U.S. Territory, English the primary language...

Pros: Great outdoors, great diving, friendly folks. Cons: Negatives of island living (rarely competitive pricing, consumer interests often ignored) and some cultural concerns.
I lived in Guam and will return--I liked the place's unsettled feel--but there are serious concerns any normal statesider might run into. You should expect the same sort of consumer goods problems you'd run into in a small town, and cultural problems ...

Pros: No one knows about Guam Cons: Kind of pricey
Guam, the Rock. Assignment here has always been viewed as the military equivalent of banishment, and I was unfortunate enough to be "volunteered" for temporary duty there. Thanks, boss. I prepared for this event with all the unbridled...

Pros: Offers the same cuisine, entertainment, sundries one could find in any city on the mainland as well as island highlights. Cons: Expensive and pretty far from everywhere.
Personally, I don't really suffer from problems with isolation - but when you're a California girl living in Saipan, there are things you tend to MISS... like good Mexican food, smokin' live Blues/Jazz/Rock bands, the Hwy 1 coastline, etc., etc... a 20...

Pros: Great weather Cons: none
My trip to Guam was unbelievable. Got there on a Thursday and the great from the minute i touched ground. Although a relatively small island, guam offers lots to do.
First stop was to get some food. Two months straight at sea and i was ready...

Pros: close to Korea and Japan simple lifestyle Cons: somewhat commercialised, not for the "backpacker" crowd
I've lived in Korea for three years and Japan for nearly two--and Guam is the closest "American" destination if you want to take a short visit and soak up some sun. It is only about four hours from Seoul and Tokyo, and worlds away in...

Pros: Great hiking, diving, and scenery Cons: A long way from home
As soon as you started telling people that you are moving to Guam you probably were flooded with sympathy. "Wow that sucks" or "What about the snakes - they are everywhere" or "What are you going to do out in the middle of...

Pros: Beautiful island, beautiful people Cons: Expensive, distant, somewhat commercialized
Is there anyone who hasn’t dreamed – especially on one of those dreadfully dreary dark February days when you’ve had it up to here with the cold and the snow and ice – of just chucking it all and starting a new life on some lush tropical island? ...

Pros: Great weather, world-class cuisine, accessible diving Cons: traffic, earthquakes, typhoons
Guam is a place one may take for granted living here, until a winter trip back to Iowa to 1) shovel snow and 2) huddle inside waiting to shovel snow makes you appreciate what it has to offer. For me, its greatest attribute is the ease of diving...very...

Pros: Plenty of water sports, even temperature, fun beach life Cons: Humid and rainy in the later summer and fall
I had a great time in Guam. I was lucky enough to get an internship with a Japanese owned hotel, part of a group of hotels scattered throughout the Pacific Islands, for my last semester of college. I went there to get my experience in hotel management...

Pros: Beaches, lots to do/see, tropical climate Cons: too tropical for some (hot weather, rain), kind of costly
I first came to the island of Guam in 1996, as part of a military deployment. When I heard I was going I didn't even know where Guam was. When I got here we were put up in $200+ a night rooms downtown and were able to enjoy the nightlife and other...

Pros: away from the bustle of Tumon Cons: relatively long drive down
Ah yes, the island life, everyone thinks.. Tropical breezes, warm sunshine, salty seas-- ai adai! Is that what they think Guam is all about? Pause the videotape. So to a local, a weekend consists of a few barbecues at Ypao Beach, or a big fiesta down...
