Pros: Amazing fishing, wildlife, the northern lights are gorgeous. Cons: Far away from anything
Probably one of the most beautiful places to visit in the world would have to be Anchorage Alaska from the awe inspiring scenery to the majestic mountain tops. I have been lucky enough to go to Alaska on multiple occasions with many different types of ...
Pros: Very picturesque, friendly people Cons: It can get on your nerves after a while
Since I posted this review in May 2000, Ive had the chance to experience Anchorage and really get to know the city after living there for almost three years. So, I've decided to revamp this review and provide you all with some valuable ...
INTRODUCTION I originally tried to pack information on this area into my review of S
eward,
Alaska, and the Kenai Fjords National Park, but I soon realized that there is so much to write about that it really need ...
Pros: Meeting Epinions friends in an exotic locale! Cons: I'll have to fly eight hours to meet them again!
Anchorage, Alaska is a coffeehouse town. And no wonder! Even summer temperatures top out at a comfortable 68 degrees or so, and in winter, when the sun peeks over the horizon for a mere five hours a day, coffee becomes the beverage of choice for most...
Pros: Long, long summer days! Cons: Long, long winter MONTHS...
And we don't all live in igloos! We don't take the dogsled to the store(yes, we even have stores, and we save the dogsleds for *special* occasions, haha). Yes, there really are roads into Anchorage from the 'outside'...
Anchorage is a fine city, but it's not what I call *Alaska*. If you want to see the real Alaska, you have to get out of Anchorage. Either way you go, north or south, you will find wide open spaces, and plenty of beautiful scenery.
Anchorage is the starting point for most people, because that's where the airport is! If you are going to other places, you will still most likely fly into Anchorage. If you can, try to stay there for a day. There are several things to do , and see. ...
Pros: lots to see and do, nice people, crisp air Cons: expensive lodging
LODGING:
Be prepared to pay an arm and a leg if you visit June-August.
We stayed at the Robin's Nest B and B (run by a nice woman named Paris). Our triple was spacious and had a full kitchen and washer and
dryer. We paid $160/night, but...
We extended our Alaskan cruise, which ended in Seward the end of June, with a couple of days in the Anchorage area. We enjoyed seeing the following attractions and left Anchorage with fond memories.
Pros: A modern city in a beautiful state. Cons: Winter driving.
Anchorage offers a lot!
Having lived 20 miles north of Anchorage for 24 years, I can tell you a little bit about what there is to do here. I will try to give a very brief description of the main events. Since there are so many things to do,...
Pros: Landscape, Friendly People, A lot to do Cons: Long air trip.
I love Anchorage. I really do. It's my the second best place I've ever been. (For my first, see my review on Chicago.) It is *definitely* the most beautiful place I've been by a long shot. I can't believe that I'm actually going to attend grad...
Pros: Breath taking scenery, lovely city. Cons: A little expensive
There is a lot I could say about the surrounding areas of Anchorage, but the previous reviews have done so well at doing so that I'll try and stick to the city itself. Hopefully I can offer to you some suggestions and advise, whether you plan on moving...
Pros: Casual exercise, terrific relaxation! Cons: Bike ride is 18 miles round trip...but easy!
If you have a quick half-day stay in Anchorage (many cruise tours now pause in Anchorage before busing you to Denali or Seward), think about renting a bike and riding along the Coastal Trail. On a temperate day (most all of summer, believe it or not),...
