Pros: Wonderful scenic views Cons: Don't go when it's raining.
The Legendary Apache Trail and Roosevelt Dam

Pros: One of the better tourist attractions without being "touristy" Cons: Long way by car if you travel from Phoenix
I had the good fortune of working in Arizona the summer and fall of 1999. Loving the heat, the temperatures of up to 115 didn't bother me a bit, although the locals thought I was a bit screwy for standing out in the sun on those days.
I had...

Pros: Great food, variety of accommodations, beautiful & historic town Cons: B&Bs are pricey, could be touristic at certain times of year
I'm hesitant to give up the greatest discovery of my recent two-week drive through southern Arizona. But here it is: skip the tourist-infested tackiness of Tombstone and continue south on route 80 to the historic mining town of Bisbee. It's a pleasant...

Pros: A picture perfect guidebook Cons: none
Arizona is a wonder. There are hundreds of spectacular natural wonders and even more historical ones. This is what I think is the best way to see it.
First, like almost all travel, you have to do a little research. For Arizona the very best...

Pros: wonderful setting, well-thought-out museum/zoo Cons: too hot in summer!
This museum, very close to Tucson (and also very close to the Old Tucson Studios) is a one-of-a-kind, great day out for the whole family.
The museum has been beautifully laid out in the Sonoran Desert, and has very beautiful habitats for the...

Pros: Quiet, beautiful setting, great food. Cons: Too hot during the day, no night life
Patagonia, Arizona is a two hours' drive from Tucson through the desert. It is a tiny community on the Mexican border near Nogales, and is home to a large colony of artists. The quality of the light is similar to that of Santa Fe, and the afternoons are...

Pros: Old west small town atmosphere, with all the amenities Cons: It ain't Disneyland
Okay, so I'm cheating a bit. I have lived in the Prescott area for 4 years now. I came to Arizona from New York in search of a better lifestyle, and I am just now beginning to appreciate what I have found.
Yavapai County is situated...

Pros: Awesome beauty, relaxation and energy Cons: Salty prices
I have always been a skeptic. So, when we visited Sedona last spring, I chuckled in disbelief at the local literature proclaiming the healthful benefits of the local vortexes, where some form of mysterious energy supposedly emanates from the earth. ...
