Pros: Situated in the heart of Chicago; relevant exhibits; reasonable membership prices.
Cons: None really.
The Field Museum 1400 S. Lake Shore Drive Chicago, IL 60605-2496 (312) 922-9410 It’s funny, and sad I suppose, how one can live very near a culturally significant city like Chicago, IL and never avail oneself of all the city has ...

I made my second visit to Field Museum recently and I have to say I was more mesmerized than ever. If it's your first visit, prepare to be agape at the shear size of the building. The marvelous architecture of the Greco-Roman structure gives you some...

Well thought out unique collection of nature

by WBDBaj , Apr 07 '03
Pros: Every aspect of natural history you can think of.
Cons: Animals under glass are grotesque now.
The Field Museum is not located the southernmost in Chicago - that's the Science and Industry. It is the first museum one comes to on the drive north past Soldier Field on Lakeshore Drive. Has a dinosaur outdoors.

The immense lobby floor...

Fossils and Other Fun

by telefrog , May 31 '00
Pros: Hands-on exhibits, well-thought displays
Cons: Can be a little overwhelming, displays with moving parts don't always work
The Field Museum just seems to get better and better every time I go. When I was small, the exhibits mostly consisted of case after case of labeled artifacts, bones, stuffed animals, minerals, and plant samples. Boy, have things changed! The museum...

Pros: Great displays - Sue
Cons: Some silly kids type displays
On our recent trip to Illinois, we spent a couple of days in Chicago.
While there, we visited the Field Museum and Sue.

Sue, for those who don't know, is the most complete skeleton of a T-rex to be discovered. After a long and strange...

The best place to go in Chicago

by mdoeden , Jun 06 '00
Pros: Great exhibits
Cons: Can't see it all in one day
If you can only visit one attraction next time you're in Chicago, consider the Field Museum. From the outside, it really doesn't look that big. It is. You can't see everything in a day unless you really rush through it. Nor can I review everything here,...

Tips on getting the most out the Field Museum.

by killerqwe , Jul 11 '00
Pros: A free day and near public transportation.
Cons: I have been two times both, on the free day and it was crowed.
I hope this epinion will make a good visit better. If you want to see one of the special events, like the Dead Sea Scrolls go in the afternoon. Seems like everybody gets up early to the first person in line but after 1:30 or so there is no line to get...
