Pros: A quiet and relaxing break from the French Quarter. Cons: Sometimes difficult to get a last minute reservation to Commander's Palace
When down in New Orleans the place to be and stay is in the French Quarter. That is the place in which to immerse yourself. There is so much diversity in culture, cuisine, music and more. It is a fantastic place to visit!! My wife and I stayed at the ...

Pros: Cheap, at your own pace, stop where you like, “off the beaten path” tourism
Cons: None at all
New Orleans is an exotic travel destination that elevates uniqueness almost to the level of cliché. A true melting pot where for more than two centuries, French, Spanish, Italian, German, Irish, African-American, Native American, and Southern cultures...

Pros: knowledgeable guides, lovely homes to see, tour rests at the Garden District Book Shop, the gardens are in full bloom in Spring, much info and insight on Anne Rice Cons: only one rest-stop halfway on the tour, wish the tour could be longer, if you're not an Anne Rice fan the info may not be all that interesting
After all those cold winter days and nights, an early dose of sun is most welcome – what better way than to experience it in the Big Easy? More importantly, taking the Garden District Walking Tour is a welcome break from the riotous Mardi Gras...

Pros: scenery, locals Cons: not very many places to rest or eat
The Garden District is by far my favorite part of New Orleans. The old homes and gardens are truly delightful to see being maintained. As a huge fan of architecture, I can wonder around for hours and be completely content. Also, Anne Rice lives in one...

Pros: The most beautiful scenery you can imagine. Cons: The humidity level is high, so dress light.
The allure of louisianna has always been there for me. It probably started when I read my first Anne Rice novel, but it could have been even before that. So when my parents gave my husband and I round trip tix to anywhere in the U.S., my choice, to...

Pros: History of the houses. Cons: The houses are far from one another, it's a long walk! No restrooms, restaurants, or gas stations nearby.
The Garden District is not what it would seem to be. It is actually a history of the houses that were built in the 1800's and the early 1900's. I was expecting flower paths and I ended up walking several blocks to learn the history of old houses. I...

Pros: Everything beautiful! Cons: Nothing ugly!
If you are really rich or if you like to look at big houses that you wish you could live in, then the New Orleans Garden District is the place to go. Filled with great wealthy people and their huge houses, the Garden District is filled with beauty and...

Pros: Calm and serene. Cons: none
When I visited New Orleans I was staying with my Cousin walking distance from the Garden District. I enjoyed the Garden district because unlike the French Quarter it is calm and serene. I love the fast pace of New Orleans, but if you want it to slow...
