Pros: Beautiful, laid back, fun for all types of travelers Cons: Limited public transportation, can be expensive during peak tourist season
Having spent the better part of my late teens and adult life in Maine, I have come to really cherish all that Maine has to offer. There are so many different things to do for all different types of people; I thought I would list out a "top ten" for ...

Pros: Charming town. Cons: Lots of tourist traffic.
Review Topic: Sights & Attractions
Wiscasset is known as “The Prettiest Village in Maine” as the sign boasts as you enter the town. I must say that I would have to agree. On our recent visit to Maine, we drove...

Pros: Could be anywhere in England. Cons: More expensive than Florida.
While up in New Hampshire last month we planned a day in Maine. Our reason for the visit was a graduation, so when our day changed to an afternoon and early evening, we planned to make the most of it.
Leaving from Merrimack, we were close to...

Pros: There was food, beautiful shoreline and a little shopping Cons: I would have liked to stay longer
About a month ago, two friends (including fellow epinioner 4rhodes) and I took off on a little roadtrip to Maine. We went for the weekend, which means we didn’t cover the state exhaustively and our destination was Portland, which means this was not a...

Pros: beauty, comfort, gracious hosts Cons: bathroom was tiny
When we first arrived at the Captain Lord Mansion, I knew it was a very special place before we ever even got out of the car. The lovely green shutters set against the buttercup yellow painted inn , with its columns flanking the main entrance,...

Pros: Rocky Shores, Wild Blueberries, Lighthouses, Lobster and Puffins. Cons: Hungry Mosquitoes!
Machias Seal Island, a rocky outcropping about 25 miles off the Maine coast and only 40 miles from the Canadian mainland, is perhaps one of the best kept secrets around, even though it offers one of the most unusual wildlife experiences to be had.

Pros: Quiet, cheap and a good golf course. Cons: Was like partying with your grandparents.
My weekend with Patsy Cline or Party with Your Grandparents. I’m not sure what the title of this story should be. I guess it has to be a combination of the two. I hope you can find some humor in the story. It was a good time but not one that I am sure I...

Pros: Charming, quiet, reasonably priced, and not over-touristed. Cons: For me, none. But don't expect nightclubs, top resort activities, or deluxe accommodations.
Basics: Castine, Maine, is a small coastal village located halfway down the peninsula forming the east side of Penobscot Bay. If you are not acquainted with "down east" Maine, the southern coast is littered with ragged peninsulas and islands, ...

Pros: Beautiful scenery, so many things to do, camping at it's best! Cons: Absolutely nothing, unless you don't like camping!
Being an original Maine-iac myself, I may be biased when it comes to any attraction in the state. However, this place has a special place in my heart. Since I was three years old my parents had been taking our family on week long trips to Hermit ...
