OK, where should I start. I have lived in LA and NYC for most of my life, but just recently moved to the Boston area. It is quite a change from LA and NYC, but Boston does have its own characteristics that set it apart and make it more attractive to...
Before my trip (I must confess) I thought it would be difficult for me to tell one American city apart from the other. But now for me the difference between Boston and New York is quite clear. In few...
Pros: Convenient to public transportation and walkable Cons: Somewhat bleak and dirty looking
Much of Boston's history can be found right under your feet! The burial grounds of the founding fathers are conveniently located in the heart of the city and can be easily accessed by foot or public transit.
Pros: Lots to see. Historically rich. Excellent Public Transportation System. Cons: For the most part, nIghtlife shuts down at 2am. Big Dig makes travelling by car difficult.
If it wasn't for Boston's public transportation system it would be nearly impossible to get around. Leave you car at home and buy a T pass. That being said Boston is by far my favorite city. Ok so I live in Boston (or actually a suburb of it) but for...
Pros: Good family for all the family Cons: Little cold at times.
Boston and the surrounding areas are steeped in History. Being the center of the American Revolution, many English will cringe as they visit Boston Harbor and the site of the 'Boston Tea Party'. Being an Englishman myself, it is interesting to sea the...
For some reason, everyone I’d known who has ever been to Boston told me that I would love it there. Well, they were right. It is definitely my kind of city. For someone who likes history, it is a treasure trove. To me, Boston is a near perfect blend...
Pros: Restaurants, shops, historic landmarks Cons: Too much to do in a few days
I went to college in Boston (Emerson College) and have visited Boston many times over the years. I like it for many reasons but since I do not drive it is a walking town and "the T" (their transit system) is easy to use.
Another great exhibit featured now at the Kennedy Library and Museum is the one on Jacqueline Kennedy's adventures abroad. As one of the most celebrated first ladies, Jackie was a well-known world traveller. This exhibit has been around since the end...
From July 11-16, the Tall Ships return to Boston for a fantastic display of an international fleet of ships. Over 6 million are anticipated to visit the ship parade and partake in the week-long celebration.
I don't live too far from Boston, but I had never been. On my first trip I was amazed. I thought the whole town would be littered and dirty because of the large amount of people that visit it, but it was extremely clean. The town is beautiful, and there...
Pros: Ainsley Bed and Breakfast, The T, Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum Cons: Cold winters, and Ugh! Those accents!
[Updated November 12, 2001 & June 9, 2002]
[Unfortunately, the Ainsley's web address has been deactivated. I don't know if this means the B & B is no longer running, or if they are having a real page developed. Make sure to call first!]

Pros: beauty is -ocean views and wonderful seafood Cons: those darn rotary turnarounds on the roads- a bit excessive
Boston- What a beautiful place to visit loaded with tons of history, beautiful waters, and delicious seafood. There is so much to do that you run out of time trying to do them all. Visit the marketplace for great shopping downtown. Visit the huge...
Pros: Friendly, Historical, Picturesque Cons: Can be cold in Winter
Boston just topped my list as the Best City in the World. To accomplish this, it faced stiff competition from New York and Philadelphia, as I am not a very well-traveled person. However, Boston and its surrounding area is simply a wonderful place to...
Filene's Basement is just about my favorite place in the world to shop, that I can afford. (Harrod's in London is one of my favorites that I can't afford yet.)
Filene's Basement is the second highest tourist attraction in the city of Boston, the...
Pros: Great Entertainment & History Cons: Not enough Sea food
I recently had the pleasure of going on the Spirit of Boston Cruise Saturday, August 12. It was truly an amazing experience! The last time that I visited Boston, I was too young to appreciate its history and beautiful architecture.
Pros: Clean, historic yet vibrant Cons: hard for me to find one
As someone who lives four hours away, I have visited Boston several times. While my trips are not always for touring, I generally seem to manage to get a certain "day" of activities in each time I'm there.
Pros: History, Culture, People Cons: hard to get around unless you walk
THE TOURISTS ARE COMING, THE TOURIST ARE COMING...I am sure thats what all Bostonians cry at one point or another. I did a review of Massachusetts but thought I had better do a separate one for just Boston.
Pros: Very lively (and lovely) city Cons: A little bit expensive to live in
Review Topic: Sights & Attractions
Wonderful!!!
I had a great time in Boston in August 2000, there are lots of things to do and places to see.
I recommend starting with a Duck tour of the city (Ducks are the...
Boston is a wonderful city. Much like NYC, it's crime rate has gone down dramatically in the past five years. It's definately one of my favorite cities, probably because it's close to home. Being a Mainer, it's hard to get to any city of recognition...
Pros: Lots of things to do Cons: Traffic and construction

I was born and raised only 45 minutes from Boston, MA. This beautiful town has become part of the many memories I have of growing up and the many memories I hope to create.
We visited Boston over Labor Day Weekend for a friend's wedding. She had booked a block of rooms at the Sheraton but also suggested the Newbury Guest House. We booked rooms at the guest house...
Last summer,we went to Boston for our vacation. Since I am a native Bostonian, I thought I had seen Boston from every angle possible. Guess what,I found out that was new way to see Boston and it is well worth it.
Pros: a young, vibrant city in a great region. Cons: congestion, pollution, et cetera -- typical big city stuff.
I lived in Boston for just one summer, but I fell in love with it. I lived on Newbury Street (the only sublet I could find with short notice, but a killer location, even though the rent was really high), but every neighborhood I visited looked great. ...
Pros: small city, excellent blend of architecture Cons: Very few public restrooms and streets are weird.
(updated July 11, 2007) I have lived in several cities but Boston is by far my favourite city. The size of the city is not as intimidating as other cities like Toronto or New York. In Boston, you can walk from Berklee College to China town in about half ...
I worked in the Boston/Cambridge area for a while and still have tons of friends there. Boston is a great city to visit especially in summer. I think it is the most beautiful city in America during the summer (even compared to San Francisco, the area...
It's unique! The Mapparium is a big, stained glass globe inside the Christian Science Publishing building at the Christian Science Center (Mass Ave and Huntington Ave). There's no charge to just walk in and onto the bridge that goes through the middle of...
Pros: culture, art, history, something for everyone Cons: NADA!!
Boston is my all time favorite city to visit. I live a close three hours away in Vermont, so I've been there a lot in my life. I've been with friends, family, and groups, and every single time everybody had a great time and loved it. Boston is one of...
Pros: It isn't Mexico City Cons: Traffic, Driving nightmare
I flew in Boston over Thanksgiving 2000, and took the train out. Our intention was to do some sightseeing, but the driving conditions, esp. in the downtown/airport area, were so nightmarish that we just got out of there. DO NOT GO THERE until you have...
Pros: great variety in sites, attractions, and restaurants Cons: lots of congestion, lots of people
Boston was quite the experience for us. There are so many busy people, so many things to see, so many historical sites, and so many restaurants. If you take a walk downtown, you can see everything from flower vendors on the sidewalk to the graveyard...
Pros: Safe, Clean, Friendly, Easy to get around Cons: Hotels are expensive, cheap ones are too far out of the areas tourists want to see.
Boston is quite a city. I've visited there several times and found it to be a very friendly place. The people are quick to smile and help a stranger out. There are many truly interesting, historical places to visit while in the Boston area. I highly...
Pros: Great atmosphere, transportation, Fenway Cons: Hot and cold
Boston is such a fun place to visit, especially for a college student. I visited many times visiting my then girlfriend, now wife, at college. She went to Harvard which is such a fun place to be and visit. It's exciting and bustling, with great places to...

Pros: Clean, safe, beautiful, nice people. Cons: A bit expensive.
It is a very nice city to go.
As everybody knows, it is, basically, a student city. Nevertheless, there are many other things to visit and to do besides the famous universities.
About them, you cannot avoid going to Harvard university, the best...
Pros: great vietamese food and very reasonable prices Cons: very small

When I visitesd Boston over the summer, all I could think of the whole time was how beautiful it was. When we arrived in Logan airport I noticed alot of tall skyscrapers and buildings. While we were driving throughout town you couldn't not notice the...
Pros: History, lots to do, fun Cons: may involve some walking
I have spent a lot of time in and around Boston doing disc jockey functions.
If you are looking for American history, this is a great place to start. "Old Ironsides", Freedom Trail, Bunker Hill, Quincy Market, Lexington, Concord, and...
Pros: Youthful, hip locals, good restaurants and shops, good sightseeing Cons: Expensive, Logan airport, the Big Dig
I travel often here for business. Logan airport is separated from the rest of Boston by some tunnels. During rush hour it can take quite a while to get through these. If you are coming or going from Logan airport during these times, be sure to plan...
Boston: Small City--Big Personality by larry_d ,Jun 09 '05
Pros: history, attractive brownstones, easy to walk across, great people, small city, Go Boston Card Cons: Pricey dining
The best part about Boston is that you can walk across the city relatively easy. The city evokes so much from its residents. They are interesting, intelligent, love their home team the red sox, and most of the people get their inspiration from the patriotic, proud history that the city boats. Though I don't always condone tourist attractions, I do believe you do a great injustice to the city of Boston if you don't at least walk the freedom trail, visit Harvard (the first university in the US) and really investigate the plethora of culture the city provides its visitors.
I'm a budget traveler myself, so I bought myself a Go Boston Card http://www.gobostoncard.com It's one card for a low price and you get access to all the great Boston attractions for free thereafter. Great program. It also includes day trips to surrounding areas like Cape Cod or Salem. Not to be missed.
Pros: The diverse food, the swan boats, fenway park tour Cons: the bars and restaurants close soo early. too many hills.
Stayed in Boston for fourth of July. the city was very congested around the esplanade due to the fireworks. we saw the fireworks from Boston common, and we were a lot more comfortable i'm sure. Cheers is a great place to eat. Blue man group was an awesome show. the esplanade after the 4th was over was romantic and a great place to watch a sunset. see the uss constitution and the casson young ship next to it. get a drink at cheers, there are two of them in Boston. take a tour of fenway park. walk up and down beacon hill and feel the history of the city. shop at fanuiel hall. marvel at the beautiful churches and the public library.
