Pros: World-class music outdoors in the Berkshire mountains. Cons: July and August are packed with "escapees" from NYC and Boston.

Pros: Unusual, fun and funky Cons: In Mass. pedestrians always have the right of way and they just wander in front of your car, which if you are a pedestrian is really a pro and not a con.
I agree completely with Webturtle's review of Northampton; it has long been my mental health day/escape/runaway destination. I live in a suburb of Hartford, so it is only about an hour's drive from here and a great day trip.
Thorne's...

Pros: A great train ride, fun unlimited kiddie rides, clean, great staff Cons: not many! Perhaps food could be better and cheaper
From the time my husband and I first heard that Edaville Railroad in South Carver, MA (near Cape Cod), a long time New England train attraction, had re-opened, we knew a trip there was in our future! Our two sons, ages 5 and 2, are true train fanatics....

Pros: Beautiful Area, Quaint Town Cons: Not a lot to do......but that can be Pro!
Stockbridge is a beautiful quaint New England town. It's still quite small with a couple of blocks of small stores along the main road. There are quite a few famous bed & breakfasts in the area. The Red Lion comes to mind first, it's located right...
