Pros: A wonderful getaway place for adults. Cons: Sometimes a rough ferry ride.
Before the advent of cars Block Island was advertised as the Northern Bermuda. Having been to both Bermuda and Block Island I can understand some of the the comparisons. In a nutshell both are safe places, except for possible moped mishaps. Both are ...
Pros: Breathtaking Scenery Cons: Not much nightlife, but Tons of Stuff to do during the day
Review Topic: Sights & Attractions
Block Island, Rhode Island is a place near and dear to my family's heart. My mom was born in Newport, R.I and she moved to Block Island with her parents when she was only 10 years old. Her...
Pros: beautiful, relaxing, not built up, charming, nice beaches Cons: expensive, ferry can be nauseating, can be hard to get a reservation
I’d been having a stressful few weeks leading up to my four-day weekend on Block Island. All day long, it seems, I have endless e-mail exchanges and phone calls with realtors, mortgage lenders, furniture stores, lawyers, banks, and banks’ ...
Pros: Great Beaches, activities, Weather, Remote, Friendly Cons: Low TV reception, not much nightlife, can get chilly

Pros: small, easy to see, scenic Cons: can be expensive
Block Island is a great place if you're with a group of people. There are a few nice bars, some nice shopping, and a little bit of sightseeing. The beaches are also good. Bring the suntan lotion and sunscreen!
Pros: miles of unspoiled sandy beaches, beautifully preserved Victorian hotels and inns, and spectacular scenery Cons: If you are out here for a week or more, bring supplies, they can be expensive out here.
Block Island is truly one of the great places on earth. Just 12 miles off the southern coast of Rhode Island. Sometimes referred to as "The Bermuda of the North", Block Island offers an abundance of hiking trails, miles of white sandy beaches...
Pros: A complete departure from urban chaos, and limited access makes it special Cons: Limited access to the island means you need to plan, and make those ferries!
I had planned a weekend in Montauk as a surprise for my wife a few years back. I had found out that a 10:00AM Saturday ferry left Montauk bound for a one hour trip to Block Island, and departed Block Island at 4:00PM to return. I don't know if it is...
Pros: Good time, lots to do Cons: Over development

Pros: Beautiful Scenery, Serenity, Convenient, Tourist-Friendly Cons: A tad expensive!
Block Island is an expensive vacation. There is nothing that quite compares to it though so it's money well spent. From the moment you step on the ferry your vacation begins. Fresh air, the smell of the surf, the call of the seagulls.
Pros: great shopping, mohagany shoals bar Cons: adrianna inn, sister of blue dory inn, was not what was presented to us.
Too small, overpriced, dirty linen, noises from adjacent room, aweful breakfast, try the hotel manises which we discovered in our travels and will stay next time. Walter McDonagh at Mohagany Shoals is not to be missed! There are plenty of fabulous...

Pros: Swimming in the Ocean is always great. Cons: The beach area was dirty, cigarettes, diapers, etc.
I just came back from my first trip to Block Island and I will never go back.
They claim to be dog friendly, which they are not, they are not even people friendly. Most of the managers and owners of establishments on the Island were rude, not exactly what you would expect at a popular vacation destination.
Ballards Inn and restaurant was a mess. Dirty tables outside with horrible and overpriced food. The owner is extremely rude and obnoxious.
They let drunken fishermen's children run rampant throughout the restaurant while their parents get drunk at the bar. This is not exactly the scene for a romantic or relaxing getaway. The locals will tell you not to go to Ballards.
The Three Sisters is a great lunch spot and they are very nice there.
