Pros: The most moving monument I've seen, a fitting tribute Cons: None
This is a definite must see when visiting Washington DC. There are no admission fees, no long lines to wait in (rare in DC), no tickets to buy, just simply walk up and examine this amazing monument to countless men and women who gave all for their...

Pros: Stunning, beautiful, awe-inspiring. Cons: Some kids may be bored.
I first visited the Vietnam Memorial as a child, and never forgot it. At such a young age I wasn't really able to appreciate the cultural significance of the monument, but I was very aware of the reverent atmosphere that surrounded it.
When a...

Pros: everything. Cons: None
I recently went on a trip with my Junior class to Washington D.C. It was a trip I will never forget. One of the things that made it this way was the Vietnam Wall. This is a place where all of the true heros of this country are listed. The soldiers that...

Pros: It is very magestic and beautiful. It is free for everyone to see Cons: it is so large it is hard to read all the names.
The Vietnam War Memorial also known as the Wall is located in an area that is the center of what I consider to be a large park that you can stroll through at your leisure to view in the center of Washington D.C. I went to see the Vietnam Memorial with my ...

Pros: Very Moving, a sad but amazing sight Cons: Sometimes very very crowded
I went to the Vietnam memorial in April of 2000. I had a wonderful time on this trip because I went with my family to all the monuments in Washington as well. While here I was very moved by the long list of names, from the first to the last i was in awe....

Pros: Now more than ever we need to remember the past.. Cons: None
Anyone who wants to understand the degree of sacrifices that American men made for their country just needs to see name after name carved on that long black wall.
Before I saw the wall, I knew, but really did not know that the numbers had...

Pros: It was a wonderful thing to see. Cons: It was a hot day in Washington, D.C.
We took our three children to see the Memorial four summers ago. It was the middle of July. It was your typical hot, hot, muggy day in Washington D.C. We had gone to see the various sights in the area. By that time our three children were pretty...

Pros: Cool statues; impressive design. Cons: Dull; pales in comparison to other memorials.
I visited Washington, DC this past June to enjoy all of the historical sites. While the Vietnam Veterans Memorial certainly wasn't at the top of my list, I figured I might as well walk by it since it is a well known site.
Well, walk by it I...

Pros: A memory of a lifetime. Cons: May bring on a sudden flow of tears.
It was a warm and sunny spring day when I visited the Wall with my friend who is a Vietnam Vet. We chatted lightly on our walk up the path. Then as we rounded the corner and the Wall appeared before us, silence was all that we felt. A trembling hand...

Pros: Very impressive & all should visit Cons: Difficult to locate names of lost ones
We visited the Vietnam Memorial the first week of June this year. I had visited the wall before but it is something that you can not tour Washington & not see it again. It is very sad, but it shows the families who lost loved ones that they are...

Pros: Enlightenment Cons: Took to many years to happen
I wasn't even born when Vietnam began. I was 8 when it "ended". I was unaware at the time of the conflict, just how many people were effected. The Memorial gives you an idea of how many lives are touched.
You enter from the left....

Pros: Grim reminder of how stupid humans are Cons: Grim reminder of how far we still need to go
It's hard to imagine a visit D.C. without a trip to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, I always have go, sort of like when you drive by a car accident, you don't want to look, you feel ashamed to look but you absolutely MUST look anyway. It is perhaps the...

Pros: Seeing all the names listed individualizes the horrors of war. A humbling lessons in humanity. Cons: Crowds and the disrespect some visitors displayed.
While visiting the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, my husband made rubbings of the names of several fallen soldiers that had grown up in his hometown and had been friends of his older brothers. Even though I didn't know them, this simple gesture of respect...

Pros: gives a name to those who died Cons: it's too bad that it even happened
Pink Floyd had a trippy movie called The Wall. But what is even worse is when a bad trip is reality. The Wall has names but the people who died for the entirely stupid lame political game our government played:they were much more than names. These were...
