  • Flooded with Crowds and Water - A Story of an Amusement Park Drowned in Popularity

Rated a Very Helpful Review by the Epinions community
    Aug 26, 2001
Pros: One-day ride fee; Outside picnic area; Waterpark; Rides suitable for the entire family
Cons: Weather conditions require late-year opening; Somewhat expensive entrance fees; No outside food or beverages

Summary: Ahhh, rural Minnesota. Many epinionaters are from here, such as the excellent book reviewer Stephen_Murray (please forgive the blurb), and nothing personifies the quietness of this area than the southern portion. Marshall, Fairmont, and Red Wing are ... read more

Pros: lots to do, fun rides,
Cons:  do not like the extra $ paid for Challenge park

Summary: I think that Valley Fair was a decent park to visit.  It would not be my first choice to go to, but it would be on my list of parks to return to.  It is located in Shackopee, Minnesota. There are many rides for the entire family here.  ... read more

  • Ya gotta love Valley Fair!

Rated a Somewhat Helpful Review by the Epinions community
    Jan 21, 2008
Pros: 6 Roller Coasters, Model T cars, and Mini Golf, what's not to love?
Cons: Mini-golf's extra, Minnesota's too cold for it to be open more than it is! :)

Summary: So, I'll be the first to admit, I'm Minnesota born and raised, so I might be a tad bit biased. But in all honesty, this place really does have it all. I'm big into roller coasters, and they've got 6 of em'! High Roller is your classic wooden coaster ... read more

  • Valleyfair - a good amusement park without the overwhelming crowds

Rated a Helpful Review by the Epinions community
    Jul 15, 2004
Pros: Good assortment of coasters and other attractions.
Cons: Not quite the experience of a Six Flags.

Summary: The Midwest boasts a handful of truly great amusement parks - Cedar Point and Great America come to mind. The problem with the great amusement parks is that the large crowds come right along with them. Valleyfair isn't one of those truly great ... read more

    Nov 7, 2001
    Pros: Cleanliness, fast-paced lines,family-based attractions
Cons: Some of those hot, hot days

Summary: First off, as a former employee of Valleyfair, I'd like to squelch the rumor of it becoming a Six Flags. Valleyfair is owned by CedarFair, who also owns Cedar Point, Knott's Berry Farm, and a couple other parks around the nation. Secondly, ... read more

  • Good, Clean, Fun!

Pros: Clean, Affordable, Great variety for all ages
Cons: The water park has no main pool, and the size of the park is smaller compared to some other parks

Summary: I have been to Six Flags Great America, Universal Studios (Florida), Camp Snoopy (Mall of America) and even Disney World theme parks (Magic Kingdom, Epcot, MGM Studios, Typhoon Lagoon). So when it comes to theme parks, I've seen my fair share. Yet, in ... read more

Pros: there is something for everyone.
    Cons: can't think of any.

Summary: Valleyfair is a great place for the entire family. We went around 7 times this year alone. The kids always enjoyed themselves and the time just flew by because there was so much to see and do. I recommend this park to virtually everyone young, old, and ... read more

    Pros: Inexpensive
    Cons: Kinda small

Summary: Located in Shakoppee, it is a close getaway for the day. It is easy access from the Twin Cities, about 30 min and you'll be there in time for all the rides. It is also located next to Mystic Lake Casino if your in the mood to gamble your hard earned ... read more

  • Valleyfair...not Six Flags, but soon will be!

Rated a Very Helpful Review by the Epinions community
    Jul 11, 2000
Pros: fun, great rides....roller coaster and water, decent price for admission
    Cons: expensive foods and drinks

Summary: Valleyfair which is located in Shakopee, Minnesota, isn't a Six Flags Great America amusement park with all it's glamorous rides and such. It has a couple of good rides but the thing that sets it apart, is how manageable the crowds are. The crowds are ... read more

    Pros: Rides, family fun
Cons: Cost for an entire family

Summary: I have been to this park 3 times, at various ages, and it has always been fun! The park improves every year. My favorite improvement of my last trip was the Power Tower ride (although the first time I rode, it was after a 45 minute wait in line). ... read more

Pros: Fun attractions, good food and shows
    Cons: Quite messy and expensive

Summary: I'm a native Minnesotan, so of course I have been to Valleyfair many a time. It's quite big and offers a good assortment of rides ranging from wild to wimpy. Their two biggest and best attractions, Wild Thing and Power Tower, are both super fun. There is
