Pros: excellent children's zoo, great special events Cons: none
Most large cities have a zoo and Baltimore is no different. The Baltimore Zoo is the 3rd oldest in the country. It is located smack dab in the middle of Northwest Baltimore and is right next to one of the largest and oldest parks in the city,...

Pros: Beautiful, family-oriented, natural setting. Cons: Some parts of the zoo are showing their age.
If you are coming to Baltimore anytime soon and think that all of the main attractions are limited to its Inner Harbor, think again! Just about 10 minutes north of downtown and the Inner Harbor is another major Baltimore attraction-The Baltimore Zoo!!!...

Pros: lot of animals, the children's area Cons: lots of up hills when leaving
After living close to Baltimore for almost 3 years, we decided to take a trip to The Baltimore Zoo. Our kids are getting older and I want them to experience more things, so it seemed like a perfect opportunity.

Pros: A great animal collection, terrific enrichment activities for children Cons: No indoor seating for eating, which makes visiting in the winter a bit of pain.
The Baltimore Zoo is touted as the third oldest zoo in the United States, and due to budget cuts from the state of Maryland and city of Baltimore, they may need to give away a good majority of their animal collection. I recently visited the Baltimore Z ...

Pros: Well designed open natural habitats for animals in certain renovated sections. Cons: Some animals still in areas that are too small. Less than ideal parking area.
Most visitors to Baltimore congregate at the fantastic Inner Harbor and its many attractions, including the National Aquarium and the Maryland Science Center. Not many realize that minutes north of the harbor lies another gem that adds to the charm of...

Pros: African Exibit, beautiful zoo, Magnet and Donta Cons: Zoo needs $ to revitalize infrastructure, one big hill that can be tough for kids,
It had been years since I had visited this zoo and when I returned I was so impressed by its significant changes. Specifically the African exibit, a boardwalk tour past a watering hole (that will be the location for Base Camp Rhino, an interactive exibit...

Pros: Great children's zoo and Africa exhibit. Cons: Reptile house is too far away from the rest of the zoo.
The Baltimore Zoo has two claims to fame: 1) its children's zoo and its age. The Baltimore Zoo was founded in 1876, making it one of the oldest zoos in the country. Some of the exhibits in the Main Valley near the entrance reflect that with their...

Pros: Great children's zoo, free strollers, pretty flowers Cons: short, boring train ride; some animals in small cages; long walks to different sections
I have been to the mother of all zoos, the San Diego Zoo, so keep that in mind while reading my review. My husband and I had a year membership to the Baltimore Zoo and took my daughter often when the weather was nice. If you live in the area, I think...

Pros: Always Something New, Lots of different Animals to see, Fun for both adults and kids Cons: The train ride is expensive and boring, closes too early (5pm)
Going to the Baltimore Zoo has become a monthly ritual in our household. We can never get enough of the Zoo. The Baltimore Zoo not only has interesting and exciting animals to see, but it also has the famous children’s zoo.
At the children’s...

Pros: Price is right, much to see, friendly Cons: undesirable neighborhood surroundings
Living within five miles of the Baltimore Zoo all of my life, I can tell you I'd like to think I know the place inside and out. Now that I have children of my own, I spent no time in getting season passes for our family.
The Baltimore...

Pros: *Great children's zoo
*Good exhibits and fun-to-watch animals.
*Good concessions and amenities. Cons: *Expensive
*A big chunk is closed for renovation.
*The chimpanzee house needs updating.
I'm thirteen years old, and the Maryland Zoo in Baltimore is my favourite place to go on a day trip! Since I live in D.C., the National Zoo is closer and more convenient (it's free) but I like to drag my family and friends to the Maryland Zoo each ...

Pros: By far one of the best children's zoo's! Cons: Steep hill, long walks but still worth it
I've enjoyed visiting quite a few zoos in my day, but the Baltimore Zoo is by far the best when it comes to their Children's zoo. The rest of the zoo is still above average for any visitors, but its the children's section that can make your trip...

Pros: Lots for kids to do! Cons: The walking can wear you out.
We think the Baltimore Zoo is the best! We live in Pennsylvania so the Philadelphia one is closer. We used to live near the Atlanta Zoo. This one is so much fun!
The price is great! The first time we went we thought about a family membership....

Pros: great scenery, over 2,000 animals, open all year, affordable admission rates Cons: i don't really like being in the Baltimore area
The Baltimore Zoo (located in Baltimore MD) offers you the chance to see over 2,000 animals while you are there. The animals range from Lions to turtles and birds. There are so many exhibits that you could probably never get to see them all in one...

Stay away from the Maryland Zoo, formerly the Baltimore Zoo
by traveller4ever ,Jun 01 '05
Pros: You get plenty of exercise. Cons: Too much land, too few animals
May 31, 2005
Visited the Maryland Zoo yesterday. What a disappointment! It was the worst zoo experience my husband and I have ever had. There were barely any animals around, and we paid $15 apiece to see trees and paths, which we could have seen at any fine park. We also brought our daughter and her one year old twins, who did enjoy the farmyard area where the little ones could pet the goats. There were 4 chimps in the glass enclosed "chimpanzee forest", and two other chimps or monkeys behind other glass. That was it. There were two each of various animals, a few giraffes, no hippos, and the two zebras went into hiding. The polar bears looked dusty, and there definitely was a scarcity of animals compared to the numbers I remembered in other zoos. Don't waste your money!
