Pros: Large, Good variety of animals (with the exception of some northern exotics), Friendly/Helpful staff... Cons: Expensive food, gift shop closes too early, several animals alone (without partners) at times...
My husband and I love traveling and visiting zoos across the country. We have gone to so many zoos from the Metro Zoo in Miami, Florida to the San Diego Zoo and Wild Animal Park in San Diego, California.
Pros: Leapin' Lagoon, all your major animals, fun for kids, natural looking exhibits Cons: HOT!!! in the summer
Before my son was born, we took my daughter to the Phoenix Zoo. It was a very hot day, but we found out a secret about this zoo that helps you beat the heat. My daughter had a great time, and she was hooked. We are now on our second annual pass here. ...
Pros: very interesting, good animals Cons: very big, only noticed one bathroom
I grew up in the metro-chicago area. I had been to the zoo quite a few times in the Chicago area. It was your typical zoo, most of the animals were caged in, fully or behind glass. I went to the Phoenix Zoo for the first time last week and I was in...
Pros: Clean, reasonably priced for attractions, GREAT petting zoo Cons: Poor selection, animals were lazy that day
Recently, (okay, last week) my sis in law took my family to the Phoenix Zoo. We had a wonderful time watching the animals, and more importantly, watching our children watch the animals. Although certainly not the best Zoo I have toured, I was impressed...
Pros: Has something for everyone! Cons: Can get very warm in summer months!
In 1993, my family moved to an area north of Phoenix, Arizona. Moving in April, we were looking for something exciting to do that my daughters would enjoy, yet wouldn't be too expensive. A trip to the Phoenix Zoo was suggested and it was the first of...
Pros: Nice for a second tier city zoo. Cons: Too hot in afternoon in the summer.
Zoolights is the best part of the Phoenix Zoo. The problem is everyone else has found out as well. What is Zoo lights, well every holiday season they decorate the zoo with nightlights and you get to walk around in the dark with Christmas lights in the...
Pros: Nice layout, Nice habitats Cons: A little pricey
This was a great place to spend a morning and early afternoon with the kids. We made it a multiple family trip and had loads of fun seeing the animals.
In addition to having everything a zoo should have, here are some of the other plusses we...
Pros: Nice habitats, plenty of resting areas. Cons: Hot weather, sorry petting zoo
We took our two children to the Phoenix Zoo last March, and even then, the temperature was soaring over 90. We went on a week day, to avoid the large crowds that converge on Saturday and Sunday, what resulted was a quite and relatively uneventful trip....
The Phoenix Zoo is remarkable. In many ways, it is one of the most unique zoos that I have visited. The Phoenix Zoo is a midsize zoo. In some sense, the Zoo is as much a park. It even has a pond and a small island, and very much feels like a park in ...
Phoenix Zoo is well worth the admission charged and any of the trips you make. by phyl1943 ,Aug 29 '08
Pros: The zoo is very well laid out with many interactive things for the children. Cons: The gift shops are a little pricey, but the selection is nice.
My grandchildren came to visit from Massachusetts last fall and we took them to the zoo, plus two grandchildren that live here in the valley. We had a fantastic time. The grandchildren loved some of the interaction of the animals, and all the monuments that they could climb on.
Very large zoo with many different species. The grounds were very clean and the staff was very informed. I would have preferred visiting on a sub-100 degree day, since the animals were not moving around very much. The animals appear to be well taken care of and had plenty of shade.
