We live in New Jersey, in an area where there are a good amount of stores and shops. But, you can only go the the Mall so many times and have it still be exciting. So last summer we decided to take a drive down to Popcorn Park Zoo. Friends of ours had...

The Popcorn Park Zoo, which is located in Forked River New Jersey, is a truly unique experience for all ages! I have been there numerous times with my children, and every time they learn something new and have tremendous fun.
Pros: Compassionate and caring zoo Cons: Need more investment to be able to help more animals.
Popcorn Zoo, located in Forked River, South New Jersey, is a unique zoo in many ways.
The zoo is a non profit organization run mainly by donations. The zoo is unique in that it provides refuge for animals that are old, sick or abandoned.
Pros: The zoo cares for animals with some form of disability. Cons: Located in a very sandy area which gives it a somewhat dirty appearance.
Living just a few miles from the zoo I decided, with my wife, to spend a few hours there on a sunny early Spring afternoon.
When you first approach the zoo the appearance, because of the very sandy surroundings, seems very dirty. This is the...
Pros: you get to help pay for the care of the animals Cons: small, dirty, and small
I live in the area near the zoo. I have been there several times since
moving here 10 years ago. The zoo is a wonderful place to go on a nice
day to be outside and see some animals. If I didn't live in the area I
would not plan for a...
Pros: A zoo with a huge heart, animal cruelty is reversed here through compassion and care. Cons: The lack of funding received for the outstanding job they do !.

Pros: All money goes back to animals Cons: No pavement
I would have to say this is one of the best places you could go. NO animals are bought, sold, and none are breed to be sold. This is the last resort for many of these animals and if is wasn't for Popcorn Park Zoo many of these animals would not be...
One of the BEST places I have ever been!!! by paopinionguy ,Sep 29 '03
Pros: Close to so many animals. Value. Something different. Cons: Needs to be bigger so more animals can get a second chance.
My wife and decided to visit here with our two friends yesterday. It just happened to be on the way to their shore house. Anyway, the zoo is amazing!!! It was so heartwarming to know that such a place exists where animals have a place to go when no one else will take them. They don't have to be a beautiful tiger, either. Some of the animals are simple pigs, ducks, or even a cow. (There is a lesson to be learned here about finding beauty in all creatures on this planet.)
The sand and smells are a small price to pay to see the variety of animals, and the love that they receive at the Popcorn Park Zoo. I also do not know of place where $3.50 gets a person so close to many animals, and spend an hour of their time.
If you haven't visited here, you are missing out on so many levels. And if you have any extra $$$$, take the opportunity to sponsor and animal, or two. We decided to sponsor a goose and a mountain lion.
