Roger Williams Park Zoo is located at 1000 Elmwood Avenue here in Providence Rhode Island. The telephone number there is 401-785-3510 in case you want to find out more about it. I did not have to travel very far to get there myself. Considering the fact ...

We've visited the Roger Williams Zoo 3 times now as a family, and we love it! We went the first time on a whim---just felt like trying a new family destination, and took off for Providence. We found that the zoo was easy to find, had plenty of parking,...

Pros: beautiful scenery, viewing animals feels like they are in their own environment Cons: would like it to be bigger with more exhibits
There are at least four zoos within an hour's drive from my home, maybe more. Roger Williams Park Zoo is one of them. I have also been fortunate enough in my life to have visited many zoos and animal parks, therefore, I am not necessarily "easy to...
Pros: multiple views of most areas, fun factoids, hands-on activities, beautiful scenery Cons: difficult to find inside the park, one long route, no maps
One of my biggest disappointments with the Boston area is that both zoos here are subpar. I've been spoiled in the past by close proximity to great zoos and I really miss the ability to just pick up and go to a good zoo whenever the mood strikes. The ...

We went to Roger Williams as part of our exhibition through New England Zoos. I have a 4 year old that is crazy about animals. She spends a lot of time pretending to be one. So she is an expert on Zoos.
She loved it. It was an adventure for us...
Pros: An inexpensive zoo that houses endangered species; educational. Cons: Confusing layout; some habitats are too small.
For epinions members who are wondering why I went to a zoo I feel a need to explain. The summer is quickly coming to an end in Massachusetts and my husband and I are committed to doing and seeing things that we haven’t done. One particular member (You...
The Best Zoo in New England by hanhisalo ,Mar 30 '09
Pros: Manageable, pleasant atmosphere, helpful stafff. Cons: The food is awful.
The Roger Williams zoo is small, relatively inexpensive, well maintained and has a number of newly renovated exhibits. The elephant area has been expanded considerably and the giraffe area is a bit bigger. The zoo is easy to navigate after a bit (they do give you a map) and is really marvelous in the winter because you can get in for 1/2 price if it's cold enough and some of the animals are inside where you can get much closer to them than in warm weather. My favorite is the giraffe exhibit. It is so cozy inside with them, watching them interact with one another and with the keepers. The keepers obviously care a great deal about their charges. The zoo is also part of the national Species Survival program and they work closely with other zoos especially on breeding programs. This week a baby giraffe was born dead--in the wild both mother and child would have died. We need to be grateful that Amber was saved. Zoos are important to the survival of many animal species and RWZ is doing a great job doing their part.
