Pros: Natural habitats set among high rock walls Cons: Could be cheaper...
Sometimes I think I'm too picky about zoos. I want it all: reasonable prices, a great variety of animal species, a fabulous setting, and outstanding efforts at educating the public. I want the zoo to be accessible to everyone, and a fun place to...
Pros: Great variety of animals, great first set of exhibits, kids areas Cons: Map count use a few more details, stroller issue, small restroom
Lots of reviews complained about animals not being available during summer months, but this is expected at all southern zoos for the safety of the animal. The solution is to visit during the cooler months for that area, which is what we did when we ...
Pros: clean, lots of animals to look at, fun place for the whole family or as a date. Cons: Not in my hometown.
I live just north of San Antonio and I have been to this zoo frequently. I have been with a 35mm camera, a video camera, and on one occasion, no camera. LOL.
I really love animals of all kinds but it is also the beauty of the place that keeps...
Pros: Lots of exotic animals, very educational, beautiful native scenery Cons: Can be very hot here in summer, I suggest fall visit.
I Love the Zoo!! Always have, as a child and still do as a parent. We live right here in San Antonio so we have easy access to the Zoo rather than perhaps only getting to see it on a vacation or something like a few Zoo's I have seen elsewhere. This...
Pros: there are lots of shade trees Cons: it's still really hot, lots of walking, closes too early
I had always loved going to this zoo as a kid, so recently I decided to go again.
BAD STUFF FIRST
We got there in the afternoon, and they were going to close in 2 hours, I thought that was strange to be closing so early on a Thursday!...
Pros: Cheap admission price. Lots of picture opportunities. Cons: Animal selection was not very good, dangerous walkways and limited food supply.
I've been to many zoos across the country and this one had to the be worst. During a vacation this past summer, my family visited this zoo because of the anticipation of seeing a variety of animals and as parents, we thought the prices were ...
Pros: Beautiful scenery, more natural settings, lots of animals and plants. clean Cons: Very hot in summer. Other than that, none!
I live in San Antonio so I go to this zoo alot. In fact, I just went yesterday. This zoo has been around for a long time, so the plants are full grown and beautiful, large large trees and plenty of shade. Benches available for rest. Beautiful animals and...
Pros: Plenty of birds to view. Cons: REALLY weak exhibit!
Ok, maybe I am bias. But this was a real let-down! I was on vacation in San Antonio with my wife (no kids). We decided to visit the Zoo on a whim, with directions from the hotel lobby we set off. Aside from the ample road construction the park was not ...
Pros: Decent Price, not far from where we were staying Cons: More then half the big animals were not out
When I ws visiting San Antonio Texas my family decide to go to San Antonio Zoo. It was about 15 min for where we were staying. My 3 year old loves the zoo and different animals he gets to see. We went late in the afternoon on a week day.
...
Pros: Many endangered animals, compact and easy to walk, much shade Cons: Map did not have words on it, only pictures
Our family bought a AZA zoo pass a year ago and we have been visiting many zoos thoughout the country. The San Antonio Zoo had many endangered animals. The animals were also displayed in "open-type" exhibits. There were very few traditional cages. Their...
Pros: Fun for little kids Cons: Long Walk through, animals not that impressive
This zoo was quite disappointing to me. I felt as though it was just a long stretch of land with animals. It was not as interactive as i would have hoped, and the animals weren't quite as impressive as I would have hoped.
Disappointed in the overall appearance of the Zoo and lack of different animals by tenaciousmom ,Apr 19 '06
Pros: The Zoo is centrally located in the city, and improvements are in the works. Cons: Improvements are long overdue and much more is needed. Where is the $$ going?
I went with my 22 month old Son to the Zoo on April 8,2006. I Have lived in San Antonio most of my life and have been to this Zoo countless times. What I saw on this visit was not a well kept Zoo; for the animals or the people visiting.
The price of admission recently went up....I expect more for my money.
I asked a Zoo Keeper about the Seals; I was told they passed away. I want to know why this happened? Could it have been prevented? Was it of natural causes? Too small of an exhibit, lack of health care?
I think the Patrons of The San Antonio Zoo deserve a much better place to take their Families for a memorable and enjoyable time.
