Pros: 1st ski area on your way up the mountain
Cons: least amount of snow and lifts compared to others in Big Bear

Summary: I live in Redondo Beach so Big Bear is the closest mountain for snow. Only about a two hour trip. I suggest that you make your way up to Bear Mountain or Snow Summit and skip Snow Valley. Snow Valley is the first area for ... read more

Cons: crappy snow, not many runs unless sllide is open

Summary: I grew up in Lake Arrowhead and have skiied Snow Valley many times. I have since moved to Colorado in search of bigger and better mountains. But I will always value my first times at Snow Valley. Yes, it is rather small, and yes, there are a TONSof ... read more

    Pros: none
    Cons: Terrible service

Summary: I'm from Hawaii and go to Southern California about once a year during the winter season to visit relatives and snowboard. I've been to Snow Valley several times before and although the conditions there aren't the greatest, I've had fun there in the ... read more

  • Great when there is natural snow!!

    Dec 30, 1999 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
    Pros: close to L.A.
    Cons: close to L.A.

Summary: NONE of the Southern California ski areas can be compared to Mammoth or any of the Tahoe-area resorts. They are all relatively small, the snow is rarely good, and TONS of people head up on the weekends, making them way too crowded. Of all the ... read more

Pros: close to LA, San Diego, relatively cheap
Cons: Doesn't get much natural snow, not very big

Summary: I grew up at the base of this mountain so I've had plenty of opportunities to board at Snow Valley. Although Snow Valley is a decent resort for its size, I would not recommend it to anyone travelling or to anyone in search of mammoth-quality resorts. ... read more

Pros: caters to skateboarders and snowboarders
Cons: very small, tends to get very icy

Summary: sure, snow valley has icy snow conditions, and the place is small -- but how many resorts have you seen with both a snowboard park and skateboard park? snow valley used to be skier friendly, but now follows the 90s trend toward snowboarding -- it's main ... read more

    Rated a Helpful Review
    Pros: none
    Cons: its a bad resort

Summary: Granted, the conditions in Southern California aren't great, but they can be much better than the slopes of Snow Valley. Snow Valley is the smallest, and worst of the So. Cal resorts. It is usually not groomed well, and the trails are nothing to write ... read more

Pros: Cheap, not crowded - good for beginners
    Cons: Cheap, Very small

Summary: Snow valley is cheap, and that's the only reason for coming here. Let's face it, it's small and ghetto. The day that I went, there was only one blue run available besides the terrain park. We rode it ALL DAY. On the plus side, I'm still just ... read more

  • Great when It has Mother Nature to help

Pros: Closer then Big Bear. Slide Peak moguls when open. Great for entry level skiers.
Cons: Very confined , awful when crowded. Backside needs lots of natural snow. Slow fixed lifts

Summary: Snow Valley is the first place you hit on the way to Big Bear. More of a open mountain with minimal treeline style runs. Snow Valley has somewhat declined of the past decade, a unique area, but unable to match the growth of it's competitors. I always ... read more
