Pros: Views Cons: Launchpad, fairly easy terrain
I have skied at Diamond since I began skiing as a young lad. It helped living about 5 minutes from the resort. It's got a special place in my skiing rotation (mainly because I can ski for free up there sometimes). Overall its a fun place to ski,...

Pros: Family Friendly, uncrowded, awesome views. Cons: Limited cafe capacity, fairly small resort.
We've been skiing Diamond Peak for a couple of years now. It's a great place for families, because it's never really crowded, has friendly staff, and the runs aren't terribly difficult. Verticle drop is decent at 1850 ft, and the longest run (at 2.5 ...

Pros: great place to learn to ski Cons: not the most challenging mountain
When we arrived at Diamond Peak for the first time this past February, there was no mistaking one blazingly obvious fact....none of the six of us knew how to ski. We hadn't even picked up our rental equipment yet, but it was obvious from the way we were...

Pros: Great ski school for kids. Cons: nothing
We visited Feb 2003. This is a great ski resort to learn how to ski. We rented our ski equipment there, so we didn't have to travel with any. My daughters' took the all day ski school with lunch. After the first 2 hours my 10 year old was moved up to the...

Pros: Great prices. Smaller resort that is easy to navigate. Cons: Low altitude. Snow can be slushy.
I have been skiing for many years and now that I have two little girls I wanted to get them skiing at a young age. The problem is that most resorts require adults to purchase an "all mountain" ticket for about $60 to $70. Not at Diamond Peak. They ...

Pros: Nice long runs. Very nice views! Discount on season pass holders. Cons: Coming from the Bay Area, it's a little far - approximately 1/2 hour past Northstar.
First time to Diamond Peak (DP) was actually pretty eventful for me. Coming in with low expectations since there was pretty low buzz about this resort, I was pleasantly surprised with the length and difficulty of most runs. For one, they boast a 2.5...

Pros: Well managed Cons: It's a small area
I have been skiing at the Diamond Peak Ski Area in Incline Village, Nevada for about six years now. They have always advertised being a Premier Family Ski Area. Well, that is a lot to accomplish! But, over the years and knowing the heart of the people...

Pros: great runs, not too big Cons: none
Diamond Peak is one of the best ski resorts in Lake Tahoe. They have challenging slopes as well as good skiing for the hole family. The employees are very nice and always ready to lend a helping hand. They usually have great snow conditions and their...

A Diamond in the Rough
by n2av8n ,Dec 23 '04
Pros: Uncrowded, family friendly, awesome views, close to Incline Village, Nevada hotels. Cons: Geared more toward the beginning/intermediate crowd, many short runs, parking can be difficult.
It's funny when you ask anybody in the Bay Area if they have ever skied/ridden Diamond Peak, 9 times out of 10, the answer will be no. That is a shame. This is a great little place to escape the crowds of Tahoe. It is predominantly a locals resort with some of the best views in all of Tahoe. Take a ride up Crystal Express and veer right off the lift and take the Crystal Ridge run down. On a clear day, I have a difficult time keeping my eyes on the run. The scenery is just awesome.
The resort is very family friendly and offers good lesson programs for the kids. More adventuresome types can explore the confines of Solitude Canyon. If you are planning a trip to Tahoe, please be advised that this is not a "true" destination resort. However, it is a fun place to ski/ride a couple of days, especially if you are staying in Incline Village.
