Correctly Named BEAST OF THE EAST!! **UPDATED**

by ally345 , Dec 06 '03
Pros: High annual snowfall, nice people, affordable price, proximity, great restaurants.
Cons: Crowded sometimes, lack of nightlife, extremely cold (sometimes).
I'm an avid skier in NYC, but the trails nearby such as Camelback, Mountain Creek, or Hunter Mountain are just embarassing. There's no snow and the trails are boring, which is why, about 6-10 times a season, I visit Killington. It's not only accessible ...

Decent Northeast Ski Resort

by critic27 , Oct 07 '03
Pros: Most variety of trails in the northeast.
Cons: Crowded and expensive.
I’ve been skiing at Killington over the past four years, where I would spend about 12-20 days each winter skiing there (or as many weekends/vacations I can get). Skiing in the Northeast has been a fickle thing: some winters bite where it’s so warm that ...

Cute Town, Decent Mountain, East Coast Ice.

by Lambira Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 1000, Nov 29 '99
Pros: Friendly, good variety and quantity of terrain, cute town
Cons: Snow quality -that East Coast iciness can be very evident.
As a person who learned to ski on a 'mountain' in the Midwest that is actually a converted garbage dump, my expectations for a ski resort are usually pretty easy to surpass. But since then, I've skied all over the U.S. and Killington is a lot of fun for...

the first time I ever skied

by rebres , Feb 02 '00
Pros: nice place, good instructors and trails
Cons: not much was bad about the place
Beautiful Killington Vermont is the place where last week I flung myself down a mountain with pieces of plastic attached to my feet, the activity known as skiing, for the very first time ever. I'd seen it on TV tons of times and I rode a ski lift to get...

Killington - Fun for all skiers and snowboarders

by bowbiter , Mar 03 '00
Pros: Large # trails, good spread of easy-difficult, usually have good snow, lift lines reasonable, 10am guarantee with lift ticket, good learn-to-ski program
Cons: food over priced, no lights on trails - lifts close at 4pm
With 200 trails, Killington offers a wide variety of trails. They have everything from green to double black diamonds - and even hail the trail with the biggest moguls on the East Coast - the Outer Limits. There are 7 mountains total, with 3 being more...

As big as East Coast gets--but is it as good as it gets? (revised 01/18/00)

by AlexG Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 500, Dec 21 '99
Pros: Most runs in the East, heated gondolas, great 10,000 feet+ beginner run, 1/2 hr away from Okemo-perfect weekend combination!
Cons: Gets icy on steep runs, not a great variety of intermediate slopes
I skied Killington on January 16, 2000 (MLK weekend). This was my third MLK weekend in a row skiing there. Arguably, Killington is as good as East Coast skiing gets. It is also conveniently located close to Okemo mountain, making an unbeatable...

Killington on Sundays, Pico on Saturdays!

by utbigrod , Mar 11 '01
Pros: 200 trails, great terrain park, late season
Cons: parking, crowded, snowmaking
I am currently living on the Killington Access Road so I have a unique perspective here at Killington. I am living in a condo resort and I get to see all the "flatlanders" come and go each weekend, leaving behind their money and beer cans. Killington...

Big Mountain, Big Service

by cessna007 , Feb 14 '01
Pros: Great Mountain All Around, Top Notch Kids' Programs
Cons: As with any big mountain avoid here on the weekend, very very expensive

The saying "you get what you pay for" applies to Killington. It is very expensive to do just about anything here, but the quality of service is top notch. The staff was friendly and very helpful. The area was maintained well and the...

Exciting East Coast Skiing & Social Scene

by jillj , Apr 09 '00
Pros: Overall Excellent Mountain & Social Activities
Cons: Expensive & can be crowded on weekends
We rent a house at Killington usually once or sometimes twice a season. Since the American Skiing Co took over ago, there have been tremendous improvements both to the mountain and also to the on-mountain lodges. The mountain's facilities are excellent...

The Greatest Resort In The East

by shadrach712 , Jan 27 '00
Pros: Good conditions, and a great place if your looking for a challenging ski area
Cons: some slopes have a bit too many un-advanced skiiers that take up the slope ( only on easier courses)
I have been skiing for 11 years, and Killington Resort is by far the best resort out of the many resorts that I have been to in the East. I am from Pennsylvania, and when I went to Vermont to discover the great wonders of Killington, I was absolutely...

Great skiing for everyone!

by egorman , Nov 25 '00
Pros: Varied terrain, excellent snowmaking, number of trails
Cons: Crowds, if you don't know your way around, Vermont hardpack
I have been skiing at Killington for over 15 years and I average over 50 days a season and I love the mountain! There is suitable terrain for everyone, novice to expert, bunny trails to steep tree skiing. There is almost always decent snow to ski if...

How to Ski Killington

by __Chris__ , Jan 28 '00
Pros: Snowmaking, size, modern lifts
Cons: Crowded trails, traverses
Killington is one of the best mountains in the East - massive snowmaking, good natural snow, lots of terrain, many mountains. However, the it does have some drawbacks - difficult parking, traverses, lines to buy lift tickets, rude skiers. A lot of...

The BEST East Coast Resort!

by joeonetime , Mar 14 '00
Pros: Great variety of trails, good crowd control and layout
Cons: Alpine sports ain't cheap!
When skiing/riding on the east coast - two concerns come to mind: crowds and snowmaking. Both of these issues will have a HUGE impact on the overall experience. Since I can remember, most Vermont winters have not yielded sufficient quantities of snow...

Avoid group lessons during vacation weeks

by Guildencrantz Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 1000, Jan 11 '00
Pros: None. You are likely to learn very little.
Cons: Huge groups, frustrated instructors, little learning.
I've been teaching skiing at Killington since 1994-95 and one thing never fails to amaze me: The number of people trying to take lessons during vacation periods. I fully agree that traditional vacation times like Christmas and Presidents week are great...

Killington Rules The East Coast

by soccerstud , Jan 16 '00
Pros: Best overall on the east coast
Cons: very popular, so avoid holidays and long weekends
Killington is the best ski resort east of the Mississippi. It is in Vermont, an 8 hour drive for me, and still worth going at least twice a year. I have been a skier since i was 2 or 3, and i have been going to Killington almost every year since. I...
