  • Correctly Named BEAST OF THE EAST!! **UPDATED**

Rated a Very Helpful Review by the Epinions community
    Dec 6, 2003
Pros: High annual snowfall, nice people, affordable price, proximity, great restaurants.
Cons: Crowded sometimes, lack of nightlife, extremely cold (sometimes).

Summary: I'm an avid skier in NYC, but the trails nearby such as Camelback, Mountain Creek, or Hunter Mountain are just embarassing. There's no snow and the trails are boring, which is why, about 6-10 times a season, I visit Killington. It's not only accessible ... read more

  • A true Resort for us Easterners

    Mar 13, 2008
Pros: Lift Capacity, 7 mountains and great night life
Cons: Long drive to get there for almost everyone

Summary: Let’s face it; there isn’t a resort or mountain in the east that can compare to the western US when it comes to skiing. The mountains are taller, they get more snow, have less trees, you name it and it’s better out west. With that being said, us ... read more

    Dec 14, 2005
Pros: Big mountain with great variety of terrain.
    Cons: Slope-side accommodations.

Summary: I purchased a five day ski package for my family through Killington Central Reservations. We were calling the Grand Hotel for days before our trip to check out snow conditions. On the day before our departure we were told there was a 48" base with ... read more

    May 22, 2005
Pros: Very exciting, fun drive, great scenery, awesome slopes!
Cons: Food out there is great, a little much on the wallet.

Summary: Being from Ohio (if your out there you know) that we don't have a lot of options when the winter rolls around. For a local fix our we have a few, for a little more excitement New York is the next best thing we have. This past winter me and ten of my ... read more

    Mar 21, 2005
    Pros: Sometimes too cold
Cons: Variety of trails, great food, not to much lines, two heated gondolas...

Summary: Killington is the best resort I have been to. Looking for a variety of trails? Killington has got all of that. Sometimes lift lines are a problem, but you can simply avoid them by taking another lift. Usually the lines tend to stay at the K1 express ... read more

  • Decent Northeast Ski Resort

Rated a Very Helpful Review by the Epinions community
    Oct 7, 2003
Pros: Most variety of trails in the northeast.
    Cons: Crowded and expensive.

Summary: I’ve been skiing at Killington over the past four years, where I would spend about 12-20 days each winter skiing there (or as many weekends/vacations I can get). Skiing in the Northeast has been a fickle thing: some winters bite where it’s so warm that ... read more

  • Killing it at Killington

Rated a Helpful Review by the Epinions community
    May 11, 2003
Pros: terrain, scenery, length of season
    Cons: a bit pricey

Summary: Recently I happened to go to Killington. Yes, I went to Killington in late April. You might be wondering how this is possible, as 99% of resorts in the US are already closed. Skiing and snowboarding in April? in May? in June? When I went on April ... read more

  • A Case Study for Overrated Ski Areas

Rated a Helpful Review by the Epinions community
    Apr 29, 2003
Pros: Lodging, apres ski, trail count
Cons: Lack of challenge, crowds, price

Summary: It's not that Killington isn't a decent ski area; it's like going to seven mountains in one stop. The problem is, none of the seven is particularly remarkable, with the possible exception of Bear Mountain. Killington is vast, a great place to get lost ... read more

  • Simply the Best in the East (really!)

Rated a Helpful Review by the Epinions community
    Jan 28, 2003
Pros: Great terrain, truly awesome snowmaking capability, nightlife, never boring.
Cons: Can become crowded, but see below.

Summary: There is just no comparison. I have visited most all large resorts in the East, and Killington remains on top. Why? Because it is huge (in a good way) and is extremely aggressive in snowmaking. Let's not kid ourselves, snowmaking is essential in the ... read more

  • There are better places to ski in Vermont.

Rated a Helpful Review by the Epinions community
    Apr 2, 2002
Pros: Lots and lots of trails.
Cons: Crowded. Too many trail intersections.

Summary: Killington boasts about its skiing acreage and its tremendous number of trails, but that doesn't tell you everything you need to know about the skiing experience at this mountain. First of all, the conditions are not very predictable. As with ... read more

  • The Beast of the East is Right!

Rated a Helpful Review by the Epinions community
    Apr 30, 2001
Pros: Variety of terrain, good snow making
Cons: Too crowded, too expensive, poorly staffed

Summary: If you want to ski in the most crowded environment you could possibly imagine, then head up to Killington. The problem of too many people on too little terrain is compounded by the intersections they have created so that they can advertise more trails. ... read more

  • Killington Is Overrated

Rated a Helpful Review by the Epinions community
    Mar 15, 2001
Pros: Increased snow making, 8 month ski season, apres ski
Cons: sardine-packed gondolas, lack of hair-raising expert runs

Summary: Before I ever went to Killiington, or even to Vermont to ski, I always heard that Killington was the best place to ski. I looked at the area's trail map and the place seemed massive. When I got there, for some odd reason the mountain didn't look as ... read more

  • Killington on Sundays, Pico on Saturdays!

Rated a Very Helpful Review by the Epinions community
    Mar 11, 2001
Pros: 200 trails, great terrain park, late season
    Cons: parking, crowded, snowmaking

Summary: I am currently living on the Killington Access Road so I have a unique perspective here at Killington. I am living in a condo resort and I get to see all the "flatlanders" come and go each weekend, leaving behind their money and beer cans. Killington ... read more

  • This East resort nearly matches the West

Rated a Helpful Review by the Epinions community
    Feb 20, 2001
Pros: About as good as it gets for the East Coast.
Cons: Watch out for crowds on holiday weekends. And stay away from 4-mile-run!

Summary: My father lives in Breckenridge, Colorado, so I'm spoiled. But a trip to Killington showed me that you don't necessarily have to go to the Rockies to find good skiing in the U.S. Killington offers a good range of beginner options, although I ... read more

Pros: Great Mountain All Around, Top Notch Kids' Programs
Cons: As with any big mountain avoid here on the weekend, very very expensive

Summary: The saying "you get what you pay for" applies to Killington. It is very expensive to do just about anything here, but the quality of service is top notch. The staff was friendly and very helpful. The area was maintained well and the ... read more

  • Biggest in the East...but not the best!

Rated a Somewhat Helpful Review by the Epinions community
    Feb 12, 2001
Pros: plenty of runs, all skier levels
Cons: below average food, lodge needs improvements

Summary: While Killington is the biggest resort in the East, it is not really the best. Yes, they have the most terrain, but it seems they take for granted the fact that people will come, no matter what they do (or don't do). Their food is passable, but nothing ... read more
