Pros: great town for the active type.
Cons: Avoid on holiday weekends. No lake in the summer. Skiing costs many $$$.
One day, I want to have a cottage here. Stowe is a great town for those who like to be active. Hiking, biking, rollerblading, fly-fishing, etc. in the summer, Snow-shoeing, downhill, cross country, etc. in the winter.
Great restaurants for all...

Worth Every Penny

by usdskater1 , Feb 03 '00
Pros: Terrain for all levels
Cons: Expensive Lift Tickets
Stowe is in my opinion one of the best ski resorts on the east coast. I live in southern Pa. and drove over 8 hours just to ski there. It was worth every minute though. My family and I have skied all over New York and Vermont, Stowe is one of my...

by bktothefullest , Apr 13 '00
Pros: Beautiful mountain

Going to school in Vermont, I have had the opportunity to ski almost every resort mountain in northern Vermont. I liked them all, but one particularly sticks out. Stowe is the most amazing mountain. With steep terrain for the seasoned veterans to the...

Skiing at Stowe

by mgmeyers , Dec 22 '99
Pros: Skiing, romantic town, long trails
Cons: location, price
Being a native of Stowe, and having skied all of the Vermont resorts, I
will do my best to remain as objective as possible herein.

towns on the Vermont...

Best Skiing in the east!!

by colldy , Feb 05 '01
Pros: Good expert terrain, good lifts, short lines, good snow.
Cons: Cold, too far north.
Stowe is one of the best mountains in the east. It has some of the hardest terrain you can find anywhere, east or west. Runs like Goat are just plain scary, but with skill can be fun.

On my most recent trip, I stayed at the "Top...

Pros: Always good conditions, gondola, summit lodge, Smuggler's Notch secret passage trail.
Cons: Can be expensive, crowds.
Living in Albany New York is difficult, there are so many options when deciding where to go for a ski vacation. We don’t really have the time or money to go on a weeklong excursion to the west. Stowe is only about 3 hours away, so we take about 4 or 5...

Stowe is a wonderful place to visit, it has charm, romance and a variety of things to do even if you are not a skier. There are lots of places to stay but the best place for you money would be the Ye Olde England Inne on the Mountain Road. It's very...
