Pros: great town for the active type. Cons: Avoid on holiday weekends. No lake in the summer. Skiing costs many $$$.
One day, I want to have a cottage here. Stowe is a great town for those who like to be active. Hiking, biking, rollerblading, fly-fishing, etc. in the summer, Snow-shoeing, downhill, cross country, etc. in the winter.
Great restaurants for all...

Pros: Beautiful mountain Cons: Ski passes are a bit expensive
Going to school in Vermont, I have had the opportunity to ski almost every resort mountain in northern Vermont. I liked them all, but one particularly sticks out. Stowe is the most amazing mountain. With steep terrain for the seasoned veterans to the...

Pros: excellent quality/price ratio Cons: no cons !
Baas Gastehaus is a great place to stay when you go to Stowe. I've been there twice this year, once in winter, once in fall. It is a family B&B, with only two guest rooms, which are beautifully decorated. The price is low for the area (79$ per room...
Pros: The Gondola (when its open) Perry Merril (on a good day), Cons: Conditions, lifts, customer service
I love Stowe and I have been skiing there for over 30 years but I would caution anyone considering a trip there to check first and see how much of their facilities are up and running. If it gets cold or windy (and it often does) they will shut down all but a few lifts . Last weekend the only lift available at Mansfield base was the triple (an antique) and the wait for it was over 45 minutes.
The slopes tend to be icy, but hey this is Vermont. The base lodge is quaint but bordering on seedy.
