Pros: Music, choreography, enthusiasm, well, pretty much everything

During a recent trip to the lovely city of Chicago, my traveling companions and I took in a performance of Blast!. Now, “what’s Blast!” you ask? “I don’t know”, I respond, “but it’s a hell of a ride”!...

Pros: The most incredible theater experience, ever.
Cons: High ticket cost, young children may get bored.

How do you describe Blast? That's the $1 million question. Blast is a new Broadway-style theater event that combines music, motion, lighting and exuberant staging to create one of the most incredible theater events that I have ever seen.

Pros: Incredible energy. Eye-popping visuals. Gymnastic feats. Technical mastery. Toe-tapping music. Audience enrapture.
Cons: For once, try as I might, nothing. Not a musical, but that’s not the point.

Pros: The best and quickest two hours of any theatrical performance I've ever attended.
Cons: Unfortunately, most people don't know the origins of this art form.

Is it drum and bugle corps? Is it winter guard? Is it a percussion ensemble? Blast! is all of these things and more. The origins of the show come from all of these activities, and are stuffed onto a theater stage in a Vegas/Broadway style performance...

Pros: Draws on music not composed for this show.
Cons: absolutely none unless you don't like drumming

Take over 20 performers and add solid colors, original scores of music not just written for this performance, move the performers around in fun ways while they play, and you have an orchestral performance gone crazy! This show is so fun it moves along ...

Cons: NOTHING!

Blast! is best understood through its reoccurring theme that, although is simple to see, is often overlooked. Blast! explores the dramatic power of each color as a unique entity by using different colors, stimulates and symbolizes the different emotions...

Pros: Surprisingly energetic. If music has a soul, the performers showed it.
Cons: The intro was a bit mellow for some. Price of ticket.

The first half was a bit more mellow than the upbeat and fun second half. Nonetheless, any music appreciation seeker whose intentions are witnessing talent at its finest, coupled with a nice array of instruments (and added props for visual effects) will...

Try not to fall asleep. This just about as exciting as my High School marching band and this time I had to pay to watch.... not worth it, boring, left at intermission... Go see Stomp instead!

Cons: There is no con unless you can't stand a lot of sound.

We just went to see this today....what a visual and auditory feast! Music,sounds, color, and dance all integrated into one production that will trigger emotions of calm, suspense,mystery, comedy at various times.What a talented troupe! My 10 year old son was mesmerized and would love to see it again.
