Pros: music, costumes, sets - it's all dazzling! Cons: if children can't sit through the movie, don't try to bring them to the play
Living just outside New York City, I had the opportunity growing up to see many plays. However, as I got into my twenties, I think the only thing I hunted for in the City were watering holes (with good music). When my oldest daughter was only four, we ...
Pros: Good adaptation, good performances, great family fun Cons: Sets could have been more impressive, lots of noise in the audience
Apparently, I was a little late in arriving at this conclusion, as the theatre was half-filled with children when I went to watch this show. Not that I mind kids, but I attend Broadway shows with the intention of listening to powerful, melodic voices,...
Pros: Entertaining, Costumes, Songs, Actors Cons: The Beast was too gentle
My boyfriend's favorite Disney movie is Beauty and the Beast. It was my turn to pick the broadway play and since I had heard good reviews on this one, I paid the $200.00 and got ready to go to NYC for the day. Both of us were very excited, being Disney...
Pros: Entertaining, Fun, quick moving, its Disney Cons: Theatre seats in general
Both times I experienced this production I left the theater with a good feeling about the production and the money spent.
My wife, oldest daughter and I went to New York to see this play because my daughter truly enjoys certain Disney productions....
Pros: Magnificent sets; Incredible choreography; Wonderful talent; Beautiful Story Cons: The audience was rude, rude, RUDE!
You all know that I'm an actress. At the tender (bah) age of 23, I have performed in 32 productions, and I'm about to embark upon a huge endeavor with bringing improvisational theatre to Alaska. Aside from participating in theatre, I have seen over 40...
I just recently came back from New York City and got the chance to see
Disney's Beauty and the Beast. I have seen the cartoon movie that Disney had made, and thought it would be pretty hard to outdo it. I was wrong!
The actors brought the...
Pros: Unbelievable production; incredible sets; wonderful costumes; I can go on and on... Cons: Nothing I can think of
This summer, my lucky daughter (Candice923) won tickets off of WLTW to see Beauty and the Beast on Broadway. She brought me, my eldest niece Elisandra and her best friend Dionne (Dionne25). What a treat!
Pros: Sets, costumes, a delight for children Cons: Couldn't find any
It’s a tale as old as time: She’s the daughter of the crazy old town inventor, ridiculed by the townsfolk for her bookishness and her dreams of finding her prince charming. He’s a prince with a curse on his head, hiding his hideous form away in a...
What makes a trip to New York City complete when traveling with children?
A trip to a Broadway show. Not any show, a Disney production.
My choice was Beauty and the Beast. This was a fantastic production.
Not only did it keep my...
Pros: Energetic and exciting show Cons: Don't go if you don't enjoy a theatre full of families
On a recent trip to NYC, I decided to take my kids to see a Broadway show. Since they are ages 14 and 3, I was fairly limited in my choices. I only hoped my 14 year old son would not be too bored at a Disney production.
I am happy to say that he...
Pros: All ages event Cons: tickets are hard to get
Last week, while a bunch of friends and I visited New York City, we had the opportunity to see Beauty and The Beast on Broadway. Before leaving our hotel, we were discussing the possiblity that this production may be a bit on the childish side because...
Pros: Costumes, set design, special effects, Lumiere was the best Cons: Nothing - I was too impressed
I wouldn't consider myself to be a theatre aficionado, but I have seen a number of plays in my days. While many of these plays hold some kind of memory for me, I would have to say that after seeing Beauty and the Beast last night at the...
Pros: Wonderful Effects, Great Acting, Spectacular Scenery Cons: none
I saw Beauty on Broadway two years ago. I went into the show with a positive feeling, because Beauty and the Beast is my favorite Disney movie. When I left, not only did I still have that positive feeling, but I was in awe! Although I had HORRIBLE seats,...
Pros: Unbelievable special effects. Cons: Some parts can be frightening to children.
We saw Beauty and the Beast at the Forrest Theatre in Philadelphia over the Christmas holidays. This was my daughter's first experience with Broadway theatre and she loved it.
I think we all know the story of Beauty and the Beast from our...
Pros: The elaborate special effects Cons: The added music scores are bland and out of character
I was very curious to see how Disney was going to pull off a staged, musical version of their award winning animated Beauty and the Beast. Already a fan of the original version, I was under the opinion that some things just shouldn't be tampered...
Pros: magical, colorful, fun, unexpected Cons: the kids in the audience can be distracting
The first time I saw Beauty and the Beast, I was dragged, because a friend of mine wanted to go. I didn't see how a cartoon could be put on stage effectively - candlesticks and teacups don't sing and dance. I went during the summer for a weekday...
"Beauty and the Beast" was an absolutely beautiful movie, and it is an even better stage-production. While the Disney name often denotes an offering for children, as with the films, the appeal is truly to children of all ages.
Pros: Beautiful songs, lavish sets and costumes, a wonderful story. Cons: Tickets are expensive.
I enjoyed this play so much on Broadway that when it came to my own town of Columbus, Ohio, I went to see it a second time. (My review is not specific to either production, since I make no mention of the actors.) Many of my co-workers also ended up...
Pros: Costumes, sets and fun! Cons: Completely brainless.
I grew up in NY. My mother was a professional actress and singer. By the age of 6 I had already seen more than 30 shows. Most of them not geared towards children. Actually, most of them not even remotely appropriate for children. I love theater. I...
Pros: The sets are amazing. The acting is great. Perfect for children! Cons: The Disney play is much like the Disney's animated film of this story, so it is a bit repetitive if you've seen the movie.
Broadway's "Beauty and the Beast" takes this classic fairy tale and turns it into a ravishing vision.
The play is basically a live version of Disney's animated feature of the story, with a few additions and subtractions. So, if you have...
I saw this show when the tour came to Raleigh, NC. Granted this is more than a little off-Broadway, but they still have some high caliber talent involved. Overall, I enjoyed the show very much. Here are the highlights and lowlights:
Pros: scenery Cons: know the story before you see it
I had the opportunity to see this show with colleagues from work on a bus trip to New York City. We had great seats. We were roughly 15 rows from the stage, in the center of orchestra seating.
The story seen on stage is very similar, I guess...
Pros: It was fun for all ages. Cons: It doesn't have the same feeling that some of the more "adult" shows have.
When I was invited to see Beauty and the Beast on Broadway, I was somewhat skeptical. I must have seen the movie one hundred times from baby sitting. Despite all the hype of the movie, I was sick of seeing the thing. I was afraid the special effects...
Pros: Real life fantasy comes true Cons: grabbing a taxi after the show
We attended an evening show in the month of June 1999. We attended the show at the Palace Theatre and had seats in the third row of the balcony. This directly overhung a major portion of the lower seats and therefore put us very close to the stage. We...
Pros: beautiful scenery and costumes, very true to the fairy tale Cons: a bit too long and dull
Although Beauty and the Beast had beautiful
costumes and scenery, it was a bit too long, almost
three hours.
My favorite parts were the humorous parts
with the character Lumiere, who acted like Maurice
Chevalier,...
Pros: Carlson Romano is great, a thrill for my daughter to see her. Spectacular Effects! Cons: High priced souviners
For my mother's 75th birthday I got tickets for her, myself and my 9 year old daughter to see Beauty and the Beast on Broadway. It was the first time my daughter had been to Broadway and her grandmother was excited to experience it with her. My ...
Pros: A lot like the movie. Breathtakingly Beautiful. Amazing Set and advanced technical aspects. Cons: I would like to have had a closer seat. Tickets can be pricey.
: I loved this production; the acting and costumes were great, and the set was breathtaking. Lights and the music were beautiful. It was a magical experience that I will never forget. This show is great for families and people of all ages, because of ...
Pros: More than a rehash of the movie, a true gem Cons: If you did not like the movie, you may not like this
I have had the pleasure of seeing Beauty and the Beast on three different occasions. And every time it leaves me dancing and singing out of the theatre. This is Disney magic at it's best.
When I first bought the soundtrack to the movie, I...
My 8 year old and I have seen the cartoon dozens of times, yet it's a whole other experience to see it live. We could sing along with them in our heads. There was a new song or two, yet my daughter was singing along with them as if she knew it...
Pros: great set, great props, great special effects Cons: a few scary parts for children
this was a wonderful broadway production, especially for introducing your children to culture. Most broadway productions are not really for children, and it's nice to be able to expose your children to culture whenever you can...especially in a day and...
Pros: wonderful special effects, fun songs and dance numbers Cons: Loud noises, the beast at times can be scary
Beauty and the Beast is one of the most spectacular shows that I have ever seen. As a professional broadway actress, I view musical theater with a different eye than most other people. The lavish sets and costumes are a sheer delight to look at, you'll...
Pros: Great special effects, sets and costumes Cons: Not the most stirring of musicals
The Broadway version of Beauty and the Beast was a far cry from the best musical I've ever seen, but it wasn't nearly the worst either. Adapted from the classic Disney animated version, the musical follows the plot closely, however there are some added...
The beauty and the beast play was extremely good! It had great special effects that I am still racking my brain to figure out how they did some of them. The acting was great. It was a perfect play for the whole family. Grownups will have a blast...
Pros: great dancing, score, and acting Cons: A few problems, singing could have used improvement
Unfortunately, my seats to this production were horrid. I *still* loved it though, even though I couldn't see it that well. The main part that sticks out in my mind was the amazing "Be Our Guest" dance number. The choreography was amazing!...
Pros: More music, excellent special effects Cons: None
This is an incredible musical adaptation. While the Disney animated movie is one of my favorites, the stage version completely overshadows the movie. There are additional songs that I miss whenever I watch the movie, particularly the Beast's solo,...
Pros: Nicely staged, good special effects. Cons: The bad guys are more entertaining than the good guys.
"Beauty and the Beast" is one of Disney's revamped fairy tales. Unlike "The Little Mermaid" this telling stays pretty true to the original tale, and moral. In the story by the Bothers Grimm, there is no Gaston or Lafou to add humor...
Pros: Gorgeous sets, terrific characters, good singing, super special effects. Cons: Flat in choreography and overall impact, as compared with the movie.
It's hard not to compare this play to the movie that inspired it; I feel the movie version is one of the best musicals ever filmed, even if it is a cartoon.
Thus, even though this production is done on a fairly grand scale, it falls a bit...
Beauty and The Beast is the 2nd Best Disney musical currently on Broadway. Basically, it is a word-on-word take-on-take clone of the movie. The technical design for the show was quite spectacular, but the score was mediocre and had corny lyrics which...
Beauty and the Beast was an excellent show. It was my first Broadway show so I didn't know what to expect. I was amazed that the relatively small theater could have such incredible effects, with sight and sound. The show was well done and the music was...
Pros: Costumes and Music was excellent Cons: Tickets are a lil expensive
My husband and I have wanted to see this show for quite some time and we finally did and we both loved it! The costumes were beautiful and the show was so nicely performed....It was a great show for both the young and the old...it was easy to follow and...
Pros: Bright and Flashy Cons: Badly sung and acted, overdone
This was THE WORST Musical I have ever seen! Not only was it a far cry from the simple wonder of the movie, but the actors could have stepped out of Krusty's Clown School, not MSM or Julliard. The costume designer was obviously trying to make up for...
Pros: Fabulous for kids Cons: There aren't really any
I went to see the Beauty and the Beast play in Chicago. It was my birthday present. Along with me was a 3 yr. old little girl who I used to babysit. I enjoyed it tremendously, but I mostly enjoyed seeing a 3 year old thoroughly enthrawled with the...
Pros: beautiful scenery and costumes, very true to the fairy tale Cons: a bit too long and dull
Although Beauty and the Beast had beautiful
costumes and scenery, it was a bit too long, almost
three hours.
My favorite parts were the humorous parts
with the character Lumiere, who acted like Maurice
Chevalier,...
Pros: Lively, Upbeat, a whole lot of fun Cons: packed, lots of children
Well, I went to see this show, with some friends, and as many say, the place was full of kids. I thought that just added to the effect. It was very 'enchanting' and 'magical.' Though if you are not a kid lover, I wouldn't recommend going to see this....
we sall this play not too loing ago and i likes it very much the reason i likes it becouse the people in it look as if they fit in it and they looked as if they did a very good job. I am not one to go to alot of plays but this one i would probly go...
Pros: Special effects Cons: I wanted to never end!!
Last week my class went to New York, to go and see some Broadway plays. My teachers choose to see Beauty and the Beast. Let me just tell you, when the play was done, no one was sitting down. The costumes were gorgeous, the props were phenomenal, the...
Pros: A great time for everyone young and old Cons: None
My husband took me to see Beauty and the Beast 2 years ago for our first wedding anniversary. He said he really wasn't sure how I'd react to tickets to this particular play, but at the time, it was the only Broadway show he could get tickets for without...
Disney has outdone themselves with this one! We went and saw this production in Orlando, Florida. The set was UNBELIEVABLE and the changes were so fast and effortless. The costumes were breath taking! This is a traveling show I would see again! The...
Pros: Good show Cons: Other better shows out there
This was my very first B'way musical, and I loved it! The sets, acting, costumes, music, and dance - all of them were wonderful. I am glad I watched this show before Lion King, otherwise I would have been spoiled and not enjoyed it as much. If you are in NYC, I would recommend other shows - unless you cannot get tickets or have seen them. In other words, this is not the best show, but decent enough to watch once.
Must See...Great for Families! by michelah ,Jun 08 '04
Pros: Friendly stars, roomy seats, nicely done theater, some really well choreographed scenes. Cons: Disappointing "Be Our Guest" scene.
We recently went to see Beauty & the Beast with our 3- and 7-year-old daughters....we loved it! The theater was small enough that I don't think they could have a bad seat in the house, and the seats were nice and roomy.
My husband and I enjoyed the show as much as my daughters. To be honest, the only disappointing part of the entire show was they way they handled "Be Our Guest". It is so over-the-top in the cartoon that I think we were all expecting much more of a production.
After the show the girls were able to get autographs from Christy Carlson-Romano, who could not have been nicer. It was such a relief to see that someone my daughter idolizes was so sweet!
Overall, it was well worth the money...and I would definitely go see it again!
Disney Women Beauty and the Beast by Disney - From Disney's series of fragrances that evoke fairy tale princesses, this scent is as beautiful as belle. A light, sweet fragrance that will bewitch h...
