Pros: magical, colorful, fun, unexpected Cons: the kids in the audience can be distracting
The first time I saw Beauty and the Beast, I was dragged, because a friend of mine wanted to go. I didn't see how a cartoon could be put on stage effectively - candlesticks and teacups don't sing and dance. I went during the summer for a weekday...

Pros: Everything Cons: I can't see it everyday
"Beauty and the Beast" was an absolutely beautiful movie, and it is an even better stage-production. While the Disney name often denotes an offering for children, as with the films, the appeal is truly to children of all ages.
I...

Pros: Beautiful songs, lavish sets and costumes, a wonderful story. Cons: Tickets are expensive.
I enjoyed this play so much on Broadway that when it came to my own town of Columbus, Ohio, I went to see it a second time. (My review is not specific to either production, since I make no mention of the actors.) Many of my co-workers also ended up...

Pros: Costumes, sets and fun! Cons: Completely brainless.
I grew up in NY. My mother was a professional actress and singer. By the age of 6 I had already seen more than 30 shows. Most of them not geared towards children. Actually, most of them not even remotely appropriate for children. I love theater. I...

Pros: The sets are amazing. The acting is great. Perfect for children! Cons: The Disney play is much like the Disney's animated film of this story, so it is a bit repetitive if you've seen the movie.
Broadway's "Beauty and the Beast" takes this classic fairy tale and turns it into a ravishing vision.
The play is basically a live version of Disney's animated feature of the story, with a few additions and subtractions. So, if you have...

Pros: Beauty, Songs, Sets Cons: Beast, Length
I saw this show when the tour came to Raleigh, NC. Granted this is more than a little off-Broadway, but they still have some high caliber talent involved. Overall, I enjoyed the show very much. Here are the highlights and lowlights:
...

Pros: scenery Cons: know the story before you see it
I had the opportunity to see this show with colleagues from work on a bus trip to New York City. We had great seats. We were roughly 15 rows from the stage, in the center of orchestra seating.
The story seen on stage is very similar, I guess...

Pros: It was fun for all ages. Cons: It doesn't have the same feeling that some of the more "adult" shows have.
When I was invited to see Beauty and the Beast on Broadway, I was somewhat skeptical. I must have seen the movie one hundred times from baby sitting. Despite all the hype of the movie, I was sick of seeing the thing. I was afraid the special effects...

Pros: Real life fantasy comes true Cons: grabbing a taxi after the show
We attended an evening show in the month of June 1999. We attended the show at the Palace Theatre and had seats in the third row of the balcony. This directly overhung a major portion of the lower seats and therefore put us very close to the stage. We...

Pros: beautiful scenery and costumes, very true to the fairy tale Cons: a bit too long and dull
Although Beauty and the Beast had beautiful
costumes and scenery, it was a bit too long, almost
three hours.
My favorite parts were the humorous parts
with the character Lumiere, who acted like Maurice
Chevalier,...

Pros: Carlson Romano is great, a thrill for my daughter to see her. Spectacular Effects! Cons: High priced souviners
For my mother's 75th birthday I got tickets for her, myself and my 9 year old daughter to see Beauty and the Beast on Broadway. It was the first time my daughter had been to Broadway and her grandmother was excited to experience it with her. My ...

Pros: A lot like the movie. Breathtakingly Beautiful. Amazing Set and advanced technical aspects. Cons: I would like to have had a closer seat. Tickets can be pricey.

Pros: More than a rehash of the movie, a true gem Cons: If you did not like the movie, you may not like this
I have had the pleasure of seeing Beauty and the Beast on three different occasions. And every time it leaves me dancing and singing out of the theatre. This is Disney magic at it's best.
When I first bought the soundtrack to the movie, I...

Pros: Beautiful voices/great dancing/funny Cons: none
My 8 year old and I have seen the cartoon dozens of times, yet it's a whole other experience to see it live. We could sing along with them in our heads. There was a new song or two, yet my daughter was singing along with them as if she knew it...

Pros: Great Sets/Costumes & Followed Disney Story Cons: May be scary for very young children
I have now seen this play on Broadway twice, both with children around 5 years old. Grown ups and children both thoroughly enjoyed it.
We were all familiar with the Disney cartoon rendition, and felt the show didn't stray too much from that...
