Pros: National history Cons: Extremely poor local service
I am the General Manager of an auto group in Shreveport, LA. In June, 1999 I moved here from California where I used Enterprise often personally and used their services at various locations for auto dealerships. Since June I have received many phone...

Pros: car type availability, clean cars Cons: Service people not telling the whole truth to raise the bill.
I have always used Enterprise for my rental needs for many years until I had one service person try to advise me that I "needed" their insurance even though I have full insurance through the credit card that I was using. After talking to my...

Pros: None!!! Cons: Insurance does not cover as well you think!
Well, the sad part is, I didn't even rent from enterprise, but the guy who hit me did. He was 21 driving to NY in a snowstorm. Unfortunately, he was driving quite dangerously, and side swiped me on the freeway. He had no other insurance than what was...

Pros: Close to my home Cons: Take more reservations than cars on hand Flat out lie.
We reserved a car with Enterprise a week in advance for a trip to Chicago. At 6:18 the night before we were to pick up the car (@7:30 AM) a rep called and told us they did not have a car for us. I asked why they took my reservation if they ...

Pros: pick up service/competitive prices Cons: few
The biggest advantage that Enterprise has on its competitors is the fact that they pick you up (and take you home). You don't have to depend on(disrupt)your spouse or friends to take to the rental place, which is usually the airport. I use the rental for...

Great Cars and Great Service!
by frzldmm ,Jul 04 '04
Pros: Good customer service, clean vehicles Cons: None
The last time I rented from Enterprise was 2003. I rented a Chevy S-10 pickup while my brother used my SUV to find his van. I have to say I am very spoiled with my Ford Explorer XLS and couldn't wait to return the rental so I could have it back. Now if there was a spot I could review it, I would but it isn't listed in here. Nothing against the S-10, mind you, just to short to the ground for me. Every time I have rented from them, they have always walked around the vehicle and marked their paperwork accordingly.
They don't hide any fees. They are very up front about their charges, and they are very nice to their customers when they have a question. They don't say sign the paperwork, take your debit card and run it through first and then overlook the walk through paper. They always have clean vehicles, and they only expect the gas tank to be at the point at which it was when you rented it.
I definitely would recommend them and rent from them in the future.

What's the point of a reservation???
by jkda ,Nov 18 '06
Pros: Easy to book reservations online. Cons: Can't keep your reservation.
After making a reservation 2 weeks in advance, Enterprise claimed they were out of cars when we arrived at the counter. There we are at 10pm with our 2 babies (2 yr. and 9 months), ready for our vacation and they refuse to make good on our reservation. Not only that, but after haggling with the manager for 30 minutes, he refused to make any effort to compensate us at all. Could he provide a taxi or a limo which we could share with the other 20 customers that were left high and dry???? "No, there's nothing I can do....sorry.....I AM the manager....I can give you the number for my boss....You can wait to see if anyone returns a car...blah, blah, blah." Meanwhile the back lot has a fair amount of cars, I suppose for the customers that would be arriving in the early morning, certainly not for us. This Enterprise counter was at the Ft. Myers airport. Horrible service with the most unprofessional managerial skills I have ever encountered.

Good rates & service
by loga321 ,Dec 31 '06
Pros: Excellent Vehicle, Rates, Service Cons: Unclear advert leads to expectation of lesser rates
I've rented cars from Enterprise on at least 5 occassions in the past year.
Condition: All vehicles were in good shape.
Rates: Rates were cheaper than any other vendor I could find. (Hertz, Avis, National, Budget)
Service: They have a pick up and drop off to the branch free of charge. Thats extremely useful ! They are very professional about it.
Time to complete formalities: The rental formalities were completed within 10-15 mins max each time.
I've had friends who met with accidents when they rented from Enterprise - they got the matter cleared as soon as it could.
The only con I could find was the advert that Enterprise used to have on the television that said they had half rates on the weekend. The fine print says - its applicable only to certain states and I was on the wrong end of the stick there. I didn't get those rates.

Great service - they went the extra mile
by peoplebuilder ,Jun 04 '09
Pros: Great service Competitive rates Cons: None
Enterprise service exceeded my expectations!
When my family took a cruise last month, I rented a car upon our return. There were two companies with the lowest rate for the car I wanted. I chose Enterprise, hoping they would run a shuttle to the cruise terminal. They didn't and I had to take a taxi. At the end of the rental, the attendant asked about the car and their service and was there anything they could do to improve it. I mentioned that I had been surprised I had to take a taxi. The attendant proceeded to deduct the taxi fare from the cost of my rental.
I was definitedly impressed. It may have cost them $31, but I am now a loyal customer.

Beware - Lies about car maintenance
by scudiwang ,May 05 '08
Pros: None. Cons: Will rent you a dangerous poorly maintained vehicle.
Our family (in-laws and children) just returned from a 500 mile trip having rented a minivan from Enterprise for vacation (Bellingham, WA). During the trip back, the brake pads had worn completely through and the brakes were grinding when touched. In addition, the right windshield wiper came loose as soon as we turned them on and was flapping against the windshield.
I turned the car in and told them about the problems with the car in detail. They thanked me very much and said they'd have it checked.
Here's the kicker (so beware!!). I forgot the garage door opener in the car and returned 30 minutes later. They were putting another woman in the exact same vehicle we rented! I spoke up to the manager repeating that the car needed brake repair and had a broken wiper and he said don't worry, they had it checked at Firestone and it was fine.
Obviously, he lied. They care nothing about your safety, only your money. I hope that woman will be alright!

Not national - independent owned - Beware in NY
by brionvox ,Jan 19 '07
Pros: None Cons: Liars, poor customer service, not national, don't care what happens when repairs needed
Enterprise is not a nationally owned rental agency. Each location is independent. In New York - beware. I was going on a week long driving vacation and rented a car. When I arrived, they jacked up the price by a significant amount and wouldn't rent at the original price quoted by the agent. I negotiated a small reduction after complaining repeatedly in front of other customers. On the drive, the steering began to shake at highway speeds. When I called, they told me I was on my own - find a mechanic and pay for repairs myself. They finally agreed to reimburse me because it was the first day of the rental and wasn't my fault.

Enterprise Car Rental is Awful
by mikeatspa ,May 28 '07
Pros: Price. Cons: Incredibly bad company.
Reserved a car for the Memorial Day holiday weekend and confirmed pickup for 8 a.m. on the Thursday before. We needed to be on the road early on Friday to get to an out of town wedding. Enterprise called at 4 p.m. on Thursday and said that we could either come right then and pick up the car and pay them extra or wait until after 9 a.m. because they didn't want to come in at 8 a.m. I called the Enterprise toll free number and a call taker and supervisor both told me that their local office was doing me a favor. The "luxury" car that we rented was filthy, had a six cylinder engine and shook at higher speeds. Never again. I'll pay a little more for Hertz. These guys are pathetic.

Enterprise - clean up your cars!!
by jd2800 ,Nov 19 '07
Pros: Everyone I have dealt with has been courteous, prompt and professional. Cons: Your customers deserve a clean vehicle!
My past four rentals have been with Enterprise. One rental had no headlights, tail lights, or interior lights so I had no way to drive it after dark! On two additional occasions I have received smelly, grimy, stained interiors. In fact, just today I was taken to a car that still had the previous customers dirty cups, trash, etc. I thought they would find me a clean car. Not so! Someone just grabbed the trash and fogged the interior with about a gallon of deodorizer. My vehicle is six years old and has never been that dirty inside. I don't like renting a vehicle that makes me feel like I need a bath or a tetanus shot after driving it! I'll go elsewhere the next time I need to rent a vehicle.

Enterprise Glasgow Airport Location
by cahote ,Nov 09 '07
Pros: Very pleasant staff at Glasgow Airport location. Cons: None that I can think of.
Rented a car for 30 days, only place that would allow us to drive from the U.K. into Ireland (for a fee of 50.pounds sterling) This is for a form you keep in the car in case you get stopped by the police and need to show proof that Enterprise has give you permission. We never did get stopped, so don't know if that is true or not. We had a pleasant experience with them and would definitely rent from again. If you have a Visa Gold card - phone your insurer and ask for a letter that states where you are covered(they can email to you)take a copy with you. You can decline their insurance and windscreen/tyre insurance if your insurer says you are covered. Saved us big dollars doing that.
