Pros: dependably low rates Cons: no airport location, short hours, inconvenient locations
Now don't get me wrong here, I like Rent-A-Wreck. I like their down-home, down-to-earth attitude. I like the promise of being able to save a bit of green on rental cars. I like their philosophy. I just do NOT like them from the travel ...
Pros: Reliable Customer Service. No bait/switch or funky pricing. Cons: Cars were a little old and used and beat up.
Most times when I am renting a car, it is for dependability or a little bit of luxury. If I am on business in a city and need to rent a car, I will usually go to one of the big chains because they have a bigger selection of locations to pick up and drop ...
Pros: saves money, no 21-24 age restrictions or extra fees, will pick up/ drop off Cons: mileage restrictions, off-site locations, limited vehicles selections
Rent-A-Wreck: sounds like you'll be getting some rusty beater that sounds as bad as it looks, right? You may be pleasantly surprised by what you actually find at Rent-A-Wreck.
I have used this car rental agency twice, once in Orlando and once...
Pros: cheapest deal in town, and it got me there Cons: unpolished customer service, disintegrating car
I moved to Seattle, and needed a rental car. I expected to need it for a couple of weeks, so I wanted something cheap. I'm under 25, and was hoping to avoid the underage surcharges. I booked a car with Rent-A-Wreck of Seattle, which is close to ...
Pros: You can get the one with the Big Tail fins... Cons: Some of the shops Don't Understand, and occasionally the cars break down... (but when they do, YOU don't have to fix them.)
It's not as terrible as it sounds. Actually, we were renting it for the bride and groom. And no, it wasn't because they were carless or penniless. It was because rent a wrecks are unique and that makes them fun.
Pros: cheaper than the rest, good customer service, reliable cars Cons: some people might not want to drive a used car, not a big selection
I've rented with Rent-A-Wreck 3 times now and each time was a pleasant experience. Of course, I've only rented at one location, perhaps other locations aren't as good. My epinion is on the location in Towson, MD (a suburb of Baltimore County). A few...
Pros: luxery cars Cons: the cars are old and have problems, poor customer service
When I went to Arizona to visit my high school buddy, we needed to rent a car since his was in the shop. My friend had rented from Rent-a-Wreck before and had good luck.
Well, we ended up getting a Lincoln Continental because that was the...
Pros: Cheap, Supercool and an Experience not to miss Cons: None - although an older car would be even better
Now you'll probably think I am nutty and you are probably right, but I have wanted to rent a car from RentaWreck for years. I mean the name is just so cool it sits up there with Nike,IBM you name it. In terms of memorability who can fault it. And if...
If the name doesn't immediately make you take pause and wonder why, in fact, they call this place rent-a-wreck, consider this: the initials are RAW, which is pretty much how you'll feel if you make the mistake of not knowing what you're getting...
Pros: Low daily rate. No hidden costs or surprises. Car ran well. Good mileage. Cons: Slight blemish in the car -- but it is a "wreck" after all.
Rent a Wreck is great! At least my San Francisco Rent a Wreck experience was everything it should have been. The daily rate for my small economy car was $27 plus tax. I was allowed 200 miles per day free miles, and I wound up paying .15 cents per mile...
Looking for a great price on a rental car? Than you have come to the right place. But that feel-good feeling will quickly leave you as you find out this is quickly turning into a nightmare.
Pros: Any port in a storm Cons: Sometimes they break down
At one time I lived in Houston, TX. That is a city that has severe flooding at times. Unfortunately it is populated with many people moving there because of work and not familiar with Texas flooding. My experience with Rent-A-Wreck happened when a...
Pros: low price, good cars Cons: license plate says "rent-a-wreck", it might bother you
I live in a small town in Kansas. We have only one car rental, and it’s located 15 miles away. It’s called Rent-a-wreck. Even though it has “wreck” in the name, they loan out good-looking cars. They run nicely, and the inside and outside look...
Pros: Excellent service and reasonable prices!! Cons: All the Paperwork!
An accident is something I wouldn't wish on anyone....unfortunately, someone wished one on me! I was the victim of a rear end collision severe enough to break the drivers seat in my mini-van, at around noon. I made a phone call to the local Rent A...
Pros: Bit cheaper than renting new Cons: older cars
I chose Rent-A-Wreck for financial reasons. I wasn't quite expecting a car that was 12 years old however. I had no real complaints about the car, it was much more reliable than my old van.
Pros: Great price Cons: Just a little bit older and sad compared to a bright shinny new car.
When I flew to Florida I had a ride to my condo. I did not have a car. You can not get around without a car. I did some diligent reading in the phone book. I found a Rent A Wreck establishment nearby. The office space was used for many various functions. ...
Pros: can save a few dollars Cons: poor quality vehicle, unacceptable customer service,
On a recent trip to Tampa, my husband and I had the unfortunate experience of renting from the local franchise. Upon arriving at the airport, we called the office to be picked up, and were told that we had to call back in 15 minutes, as the owner and...
Pros: Cheaper price Cons: Unauthorized charges on your debit or credit card, no selection of cars
I was going through a separation and needed a car immediately. A very young man was working at the desk and it was a rainy day. He said it would not be necessary to check the car before he gave me the keys. I agreed. That was my first mistake. I...
Pros: Low rates especially long term; cater to under 25 crowd; Nice "wrecks"; Pleasant efficient staff. Cons: Lack good locations with limited airport coverage; Limited car availability; No extended business hours.
I've rented a car from two different locations in Southern California (once multiple times) and both were good experiences. At the time I was 21 and was still treated great. They offer many of the perks that other chains offer such as free pickup and ...
Pros: I escaped with limbs intact. Cons: Verbally abusive owner. Pathetic customer no-service.
Per the Better Business Bureau this location has had 15 complaints in the past 3 years and 5 complaints this past year, of course one of those is mine. Most other RAW locations have no complaints, some have one. There is not a negative enough word that ...
Pros: Cheap Cons: Disgusting, old, and full of safety violations
I needed a cheap rental car for a 4 day weekend trip from NY to DC (600-700 mi. rd-trip). Rent-a-WRECK had the cheapest rates. However, I had to call several times to make a reservation due to the fact the reservations kept getting "lost."...
Since, Avis and the other big companies were so expensive, I figured why not try Rent-A-Wreck. Well, at least with Avis and the others, you get wonderful customer service. My local RAW (in the Richmond Hill, Queens, NY area) was close to home but rude...
...Wreck could not be a more appropriate term for the vehicle I rented. For starters, I pulled into the parking lot at 8am when they opened, behind an old house, and there was 1 car in the lot. The 'office' was through the back door of the house ...

Pros: The price is $20.00 cheaper per week than Enterprise. Cons: You may end up paying for the wreck, and still need a rental!
I rented a Rent-A-Wreck in Clifton Park, New York. Without realizing, I initialed a lign in my contract stating I agreed to be responsible for all damages to the vehicle. Rent-a-wreck is 20.00 cheaper a week than the Enterprise dealer I usually use. I ...
Pros: I WILL NEVER EVEN THINK OF IT TO RENT FROM rent a wreck Cons: I WILL NEVER EVEN THINK OF IT TO RENT FROM rent a wreck

Pros: Cheap, they pick you up Cons: Off airport, had some billing problems
We rented a subcompact from them (their Scottsdale, AZ office)for 3 days and they picked us up at the airport and took us to the office (about 10 minutes from the airport). They were very overworked, but the process was fairly simple. The car (a 1998...
Pros: allows underage drivers to rent cars Cons: location not as convenient
I was on a summer internship with Ford Motor Company with 1200 other college aged interns, and funny enough, those of us under 21 find it difficult to rent cars-the irony of it, we work for one of the biggest car manufacture in US and the interns can't...

I reserved a car from Rent-A-Wreck Seattle in March for a two-week holiday in September 2008. I showed up at the airport in the evening (having flown from overseas) and called the number Rent-A-Wreck had given me for the free shuttle to collect my car. I ...
Awful!! And not even that cheap! by frequentrenter ,Mar 08 '06
Pros: Only good for under-25 Cons: Horrible service, bad quality, not that cheap anymore
The car they gave me in New Jersey was this 11 year-old Oldsmobile gas guzzler (I'd requested a compact), missing a hubcap, A/C didn't work, and it overheated only 30 minutes after I left the lot! Made a lot of noises, and couldn't get over 60mph. I complained when I got back, but they could care less. I was thrilled that they didn't scam me for "damages" like many others have been scammed by this office.
I paid $25/day, and you can get cars on Priceline for around $30 from decent agencies. For a $5 difference, I'd strongly urge you NEVER to use Rent-a-Wreck!!
Pros: Cheap, friendly Service, Free Pick Up & Drop Off Cons: sold out quickly this Christmas
I called Rent-A-Wreck in Ft. Lauderdale, FL on the Friday before Christmas as a last resort to rent a car. The manager I spoke to told me that he had been sold out until ten minutes before my call, but had a Camry returned early. The price was $35 and the car had about 15,000 miles on it when he dropped it off to me. They didn't charge extra for the drop off service (I was stuck at a hotel across town) and even gave me some great advice about a local restaurant to take my in-laws. When I returned the car a week later they dropped me off at the airport. Very nice people, I would recommend to any one.

Pros: Good daily rate Cons: Not well maintained.
I rented from the R-A-W location on Cleveland Ave in Fort Meyers. I wasn't looking for anything fancy - just to get from point A to point B. They gave me their "best" economy car. It included such extras as very stained upholstery and multiple cigarette burns in the roof liner. The steering wheel shook every time I used more the just a little pressure on the brakes. The trunk release inside the car - normally located on the floor below the driver's seat - was broken off, had to use the keys every time. Not a big deal normally but this trip I happened to use the trunk a lot. The dome light didn't work. It did have a couple little "map lights" built into the rear view mirror that worked so I could at least see in the dark. Other than that it was just ok. I've rented from R-A-W in the past at other locations with very satisfactory results. I expect a clean, higher mileage, fully functioning car with maybe a few dings and scratches at a reasonable price. And that's what I usually get. I won't go back to this place.
really bad experience, Rochester, New York by rtqueen ,Aug 09 '08
Pros: None, its cheap, not worth it Cons: Its all a con, its cheap, not worth it!!!
Rent-a-wreck aka: Clovers Clunkers, aka: Stacys camper rental in Rochester, New York. Wow, we rented a beat up Neon, had a flat tire in less than a mile, took it for a parking lot spin thinking it was a fluke. Within 5 miles the engine was seizing, shaking and jolting. We returned it. Felt like a death trap. The owner was cold, rude, and arrogant. should have stayed away from a business with clunkers in the name. Lost time, and gained aggravation. Will go with my instincts next time!
Great Bargain and Service by purpleaces ,Aug 30 '04
Pros: low weekly rates dependable car Cons: could not drive more than 100 miles away from Myrtle Beach
I recently rented from Rent A Wreck in Myrtle Beach and found the car to be in good shape. The car had 70,000 miles but was clean and dependable for the 7 plus days I used it.
The major players would have charged an extra day since I checked it out at noon and did not return it until 4pm on the seventh day. My compact Chevrolet ran me $101.20 including taxes. This was less than one half the price for the major rental companies.
THE WORST COMPANY IN THE WORLD by qualityqa ,Jan 16 '06
Pros: NOTHING...I CAN WRITE MORE WORSE THINGS Cons: THIS COMPANY MUST BE CLOSED,HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE,TRY TO ROB CUSTOMERS, CRAP CARS ON EARTH
Its the most horrible car rental i have ever found...Crap cars...May be you would find better cars in the crap...The worst customer service...worst insurance policies...No proper damage waiver...and if some damage occurs...no matter what,..YOU HAVE TO PAY $500...You are not informed of the rules ,regulations and fares before you rent a car. All they want is to grab the customer, try to rob them if they get a chance..it was my mistake to rent a wrecked car than the name says....NEVER rent it...
its cheap car rental full of cheap and rude managers and customer service offices. Dirty offices, Dirty cars, and oops ...i forgot to mention, the car I rented had NO BRAKES...GOSH I AM ALIVE...I PAID $600 for 3 day car rental.I wanted to get rid of the headache i have chosen...i would never ever go by the car rental...i would either say...I would never see the face of the manager there...he was so horrible...God Bless USA from RENT A WRECK!!!!!

Pros: The staff was very helpful and kind. you can use a debit card Cons: NONE
Im 18 years old and I rented a wreck from the scotch plains office in New Jersey. I was involved in an accident and needed to rent a car. Rent a Wreck was the only place that would rent to me. They had a couple cars when i got there there was older and newer cars to choose from . I ended up with an 07 ford taurus . Everything worked out well and the price was unbeatable even if i was able to rent from another car rental company. Rent A Wreck A LOT cheapper. The employees that work the office were really accommodating.I would rent here again.
