I am not an oficianado of Barber Shop music, but I do know what sounds good, and these guys sound good! Unfortunately, I have only heard them once in eight visits to WDW, and we just happened upon them then. They were at the flag pole in the town...
A Definite Must See/Hear in WDW!! by fruityspirit9 ,Dec 26 '05
Pros: Great Voices, Wonderful Personalities, Excellent Entertainment!!! Cons: Sometimes difficult to spot
This Barbershop Quartet is one of Disney World's most prized gems! I love listening to them sing right before lunch/dinner at Tony's Town Square Restaurant---Bella Note is the song special to Lady & the Tramp's Restaurant, and they perform it exceptionally well. My favorite is the purple striped Dapper Dan, Steve---he's been there more than 25 years. But if he isn't working when you're there, don't fret, they're all quite amazing! If it's someone special's birthday, try and catch them at an *off* moment and ask if they would please sing Happy Birthday-it's a real treat!
Pros: The best performers at WDW ! Cons: Who could say anything against USA, Mom, Applepie or the Dapper Dans !?
Hey all you barbershopers...pssssttttt....keep it a secret but if you ask the dapper dans really nice...they will let you sing with them !!!!! Only polecats but what a thrill....!
We were at the park only 40 min. I found the Dans on Main Street and before I could finish asking them they were blowing the pitch and we were singing "Down Our Way". I was so excited I must have been sharp during the whole song but at the end I realized a crowd had formed around us and they were applauding !! The Dans then gave me an Honorary Membership Card and some very sincere feedback on my singing. They even knew some of my fellow barbershoppers in New Hampshire. When it was all over I told my kids..."lets go home...my vacation is complete".
Now hear this ! We went back to Main Street 3 days later. I saw the Dans and they called me over by my first name (how do they remember these things??) and off we went again singing "Sweet and Lovely". Talk about feeling special....and what a great bunch of guys. Although the bass could use some help....teeeeee heeeeee....gotcha !
