Pros: Well it is open 24 hours and all over the place Cons: Lack of free weights for legs, shady sales tactics, way overcrowded and too cramped
I work out in the 24 hour gyms in Torrance, Long Beach, and Los Alamitos, California.
For the shift worker, 24 hour fitness is the ideal choice, since it is everywhere in Southern California, and is open 24 hours.
However, like many...

Pros: Good equipment. Cons: Unethical, overpriced.
After my son was born I decided to try out 24 Hour Fitness. My sister in law was also looking to get into shape so we decided to join together. As a gift to me she paid my start-up fee of $54 dollars. She wrote a check for the full amount for both of...

Pros: Cheap, good for those wanting to pick up a date Cons: Unclean establishment, rude staff, wait time for equipment, uncomfortable surroundings
Oh my memories of having a membership at 24 hr. fitness are quite vivid. Can you say meat market? How about downright rude & uncourteous staff? You will find all this and more.
Now don't get me wrong, if you are looking for a low budget...

Pros: Clean facilities, state-of-the-art equipment Cons: Unfriendly, sometimes rude staff, high prices for membership
My experience with 24 Hour Fitness is slightly less then positive but I will attempt to give a fair epinion while at the same time sharing my personal experiences.
Membership
To get a basic membership I paid about $150. They then...

Pros: Equipment is there to get a really good workout. Cons: Unfriendly Staff.
Limited hours.
I started working out nine years ago at age 30. Mine was the greatest gym here in Richardson, TX called "The Austin Gym". It had great selection of free weights, benches and other equipment along with friendly people. Then came Larry North Fitness and...

Pros: Cleanliness, quantity of services & equipment Cons: Confusing membership fees and very pushy, slickster salespeople
This review is of the Springfield, OR 24-Hour Fitness "Sport" Club, although I'm sure most are similar. I'm actually not a member of 24-hour fitness. Why? The salespeople totally turned me off of the fitness club scene. I ended up buying my own...

Pros: not very expensive Cons: no personal attention
What's important when choosing a gym? Is distance from work or home more important than competence of employees? 24 Hour Fitness might be a good place to start a work out regime, but, certainly not for the long haul.
When I was younger I...

Pros: nice equipment, good looking people Cons: over crowded, over priced
I was a member with these guys since 1993, before they started buying up all the other gyms. Before the buy outs it was a GREAT place to workout and I was a 5-7 day a week gym rat. As they started buying other gyms the free extras went away and the...

Pros: Great variety of equipment Cons: crowded, meat market
My quest for fitness did not really happen until I was in my early 20's. Sure, I loved the outdoors, but hey, if I wanted to get from point A to point B, I had a perfectly good car to get me there. Despite not exercising, I appeared to be in pretty...

Pros: New facility. New equipment. Cons: Crowded. Rude sales people. Expensive memberships.
Waiting for 24 Hour corporate to stand up and do the right thing and offer me a discount to add a family member. After being a member for more years than I can remember, I was treated very rudely by a punk sales rep the other day, who told me it would...

Pros: Only gym in this area open 24 hours Cons: They only want beautiful, already thin members.
I'm writing this review after having tried unsuccessfully to join 24 Hour Fitness. I went in without any preconceptions other than them being expensive, but my experience certainly seems to confirm negative reviews below because even the gym staff ...

Pros: cheap, locations everywhere Cons: sorta dirty and lots of gaukers
Most of the time this gym is filled with senior citizens and single guys. I don't really mind the elderly (except when they seem to dose off on the machines), it's the abundance of slack jawed gaukers that is irritating. I joined this gym because...

Pros: clean Cons: no help
This summer, I was staying in Anaheim prior to going off to Israel. I wanted a gym at which to work out while I was there. It was only for a few months, so a year membership didn't seem reasonable. The lady of the house went every morning at 5 a.m. to...

Pros: diversity of classes, clean facility Cons: read the review
Hi folks-
To add context to my review, please take note that for a period of 1 year, I worked out mainly at the Salinas and Panorama City facilities, both in California. Two other members of my family and I purchase the "family...
