Pros: decent facility
lots of locations Cons: not all classes included free with membership
dishonest business practices
unhelpful customer service
I have been a member at my local Bally's in Los Angeles for about 2 years. We signed a month to month membership and got a deal because we agreed to an automatic billing to my credit card. Everything was fine until I tried to cancel my membership two ...

Pros: Inexpensive Cons: Dirty locker rooms, shoddy equipment, STEALS YOUR MONEY!!!
Section I: How Bally's Ripped Me Off [The Rant] I joined Bally's because at $30/month it cost half as much as the next least expensive gym in my area. Biggest mistake I ever made. In addition to the general filthiness of the club, which I can deal ...

Pros: Good equipment, many locations Cons: Would do anything to get an extra dollar, read the contract carefully
They sound good on a paper (equipment, locations) however they are ruthless when it comes to money, dont let them intimidate you. They try to trap you into long term contracts. When they tell you the forth year is free it really is however at what...

Pros: Prison Chic' Cons: Scam artists galore
I signed up for 24 sessions with a personal trainer. The third session, he cancelled to go with a buddy to a basketball game. Next time, my one hour session consisted of 25 minutes, he got bored. The other writers are correct that the exercises are ...

Cannot suspend membership until 'Initiation fee' paid in full

Pros: Did not see any good. Cons: Deceiving staff & pushy, never disclosed the existence of contract
Guys,
Beware before you ink the paper. It is very difficult to get out of the contract. Sales staff is pushy and conceals the contract. Even if you ask them about the contract, they just ignore it. But you get the details only when you read the...

Pros: The sales people really know how to pressure a person to extremes. Cons: They use their own broken logic whether it is true or not.
When I joined I spent time on the machines, weights, and pool. The machines are very loud, about 25% of they really should be replaced. They have a few t.v. shows going on during the work out but you can not hear over the machines so you read sub-titles ...

Pros: Clean, Convenient Cons: Contract is total ripoff
Bally's contracts are complete rip-off. The things you will be told are not at all the things you will be signing in your contract. I sincerely recommend bringing a lawyer if you decide to join. I travel frequently and wanted to make sure that I do ...

Pros: None Cons: too many to list
Bally's as a whole is a business founded on cheating it's customers--plain and simple. It preys on people's weaknesses--a business model typical for the industry, but embraced whole-heartedly by this company, especially now that health has become ...

Pros: Decent variety of equipment. Cons: I felt like I was buying a car.
I'm not a member of Bally's, but I did go in today to check out the place. Overall, the facility seems pretty good. However I felt like they treated me like a jerk. They were very friendly, but they used car saleman-like sales techniques. First was the...
