Hudson Valley Gold's lies

by whtorchid , Feb 20 '07
Pros: New facility, new equipment
Cons: Terrible customer service
I am a member of Gold's for about 3 years now. In January 2007 I ran into a problem at Newburgh. I was told that I had to pay $ 3 extra to be able to exercise in the Newburgh faculty. When the Wappingers Falls gym was closed; I was told that I could ...

Mostly Good experiences with Gold's

by imatwirlgirl , Oct 05 '03
Pros: Good reputation, good hours, variety of classes
Cons: Have to sign a contract, not all are as nice
In 2000 a new Gold's Gym was going to open within a mile of my house. At the time, I belonged to a rinky dink little no name gym and decided I needed a change. Prior to the actual gym opening, they were using a smaller space as the "preview" gym/office. ...

Pros: Clean, cool staff, great trainers, and cheap membership!
Cons: Small compared to other Gold's I've seen, and can be intimidating @ times....

Gold's Gym Somerville, MA - Only if you prefer smelly garage-like venues

by anemets , Aug 08 '07
Pros: Nice selection of equipment, cheap
Cons: Bunker-like atmosphere, hard to opt out
Gold's Gym in Somerville, MA is inexpensive and has a good selection of equipment and classes. It doesn't get crowded, and you never have to wait to get on a treadmill or stairmaster. A downside is the condition of the facility, which doesn't have any ...

Think carefully before committing

by vhmatin , Feb 16 '07
Pros: Newer gyms attractive; many machines; gyms are numerous and easy to find.
Cons: Promises cannot be relied on; read contract carefully. Business practices illegal and certainly unethical.
This well-marketed gym hides a number of huge flaws. Do your research carefully before signing up. The appealing facade masks mind-numbingly complex contracts, a lawsuit-happy corporate parent and it is virtually impossible to escape them once you sign ...

Despicable billing practices

by sgingras , Sep 05 '07
Pros: You can cancel...with effort...and time...and by donating extra money to their cause
Cons: Extremely onerous cancellation policies...seemingly designed to make canceling difficult
I was a month-to-month member of a Golds Gym in Northern Virginia for several years. They did everything in their power to help me join...and made the process quick and easy on-site. I called recently to determine how to cancel my membership since I was ...

Unhappy with Golds Gym

by shopgirl2 , Apr 05 '02
Pros: Closer to my house
Cons: Management lacked consistency, didn't hold up there end of the bargain
I joined Golds Gym in Lexington, Kentucky in 1998, it was called World Gym at the time. I was relatively happy with it for a couple years. The problems started when they started their Cardio Cinema room, featuring aerobic equipment with full length...

Gold's SF, Hollywood, Venice, South Buffalo, Kihei Maui

by pupman2 , Dec 17 '08
Pros: Clean, well-equipped, motivational members, many locations worldwide.
Cons: Some locations more expensive than others.
All of the Gold's gyms mentioned here were very clean and well-maintained. Broken equipment was repaired quickly.Gold's Hollywood: This gym insists on absolute cleanliness at all costs, even if you break your neck by having vacuum cleaner cords wrap ...

GET PUMPED

by Ericstake , Mar 22 '01
Pros: Tons of honies to keep you motivated.
Cons: Could have better circulation. This may be the gym in particular.
I am a college student and have been working out for over 6 years now. I joined Gold's Gym about 2 and a half years ago. In the past I worked out at home and other free on campus weight and fitness rooms, non of which compares to Gold's Gym.

A Great Place for a NEW YOU

by BonPie , Nov 20 '00
Pros: There are shower facilities with hair dryers, tanning booths, and weight scales.
Cons: I really can't name anything I didn't like.
I first came to Gold's Gym at a real low time in my life. I was tired, out of shape and needed to lose some pounds. I was greeted by several friendly staff, and they treated me like an old friend. I signed up, at first, for 3 months. But it was just the...

Buyer Beware of Golds Gym

by thaight , Jun 23 '00
Pros: none
Cons: overcharges for services, trainers never available if you workout after regular work hours
I was a member of Gold's Gym for a year. I joined because I wanted to get in shape and the club was near my house.

Joining is expensive to start, and seems like this changes constantly. I joined when I did because they discounted the joining...

An unsettling interview

by greencosmo , Oct 17 '00
Pros: Nice facility
Cons: Misleading policies
I heard the advertisement on the radio about a FREE 30 day trial membership to Gold's Gym. That's great, I thought, I'll go see what Gold's has to offer and maybe join at the end of the trial membership. I called the nearest Gold's and made an...

My husband and I recently went to Gold's Gym to renew our membership for the 2008 year. We have been members of this gym since its initial opening in 2005. When we signed up we paid for two years (both husband and I) up front so we could be locked in ...
