Pros: Inspiring - liberating- most of all IT WORKS!!! Cons: NONE
I stumbled across Harvey Diamond's book FIT FOR LIFE in the early eighties. Simply put, this book has transcended time and trend. It is as the title suggests: A way of life and not a short term diet plan.
The benefits from this...
Pros: Common sense, practical approach to eating and weight loss Cons: I couldn't give up my coffee.....
My friend, thin and shapely as she was complaining about the middle thirties creeping in on her physique. She and her husband, always a team, decided to try Fit For Life, originated by Harvey and Marilyn Diamond. Harvey, once overweight himself,...
Pros: First-rate recipes; very healthy foods in general Cons: NOT for you if your blood sugar is unstable
I was on the Fit For Life plan for about four years, during which I not only did not lose weight but actually gained ten pounds. This was not due to program food but to bad eating habits resulting from the side-effects of the program. Allow me to...
Pros: Book has interesting ideas Cons: Difficult food choices
When I first read the Fit For Life book the ideas were challanging and in some ways made sense. You can supposedly lose weight and become much healthier by knowing how to properly combine your food choices so that they are digesting more efficiently....
Pros: Yummy food; Eat as much as you need to stay full; Energy level skyrockets Cons: Detoxifying can be terribly unpleasant
The Fit for Life eating plan by Harvey and Marilyn Diamond seems to always bring up strong opinions (see the comments about some of the other reviews). I was introduced to this eating plan over a year ago by a friend who was following it and who...
Pros: You will Feel great. Lowers colesterol. Lowers blood pressure. lose weight and keep it off! Cons: Takes a little while to get used to if you love sugar.
**NOTE** I'm not sure of the English title, but the diet is from the Frenchman Michel Montignac. Sorry if there is any confusion regarding the name. Type in his name at Amazon.com and you will find the correct title of the diet I'm referring to. I ...
Pros: Healthy weight loss, dramatic increase in energy Cons: Untraditional, too easy to believe
Fit For Life is the only sensible and common sense diet I have ever tried. When you think about the principles, and how they can not be changed, you realize what sense this really makes. I've gone on and off this program for about 3 years now, and ...
Pros: you will lose weight Cons: you will damage your health - long term
Fit For Life is really a wonderful concept. However, there are many things that this book recommends that you as a consumer Must be aware of. I had to learn the hard way. Yes you will lose weight if you don't combine protein with carbohydrates....
Pros: easy, not too restrictive, you chose the foods you like Cons: You do sometimes want to have that meat and protein together. Go ahead once in awhile
Ok, well, now that I have had my memory jogged, I think that starting tomorrow I will go back on this for awhile. I haven't used this plan for awhile. I discovered it a few years ago, and I found it to be a very exciting plan. I lost 9 pounds in one...
Pros: Great introduction to what your common sense should be telling you anyway. Cons: If weight loss is your only goal then this is just another useless DIET BOOK.
The 'fit for life' scheme makes basic sense - you shouldn't need the book - just think about what are natural foods to our species - also think about the overwhelming overload of misinformation about 'nutrition' that has been imprinted on our brains ...
Pros: The book changed my life from one of unhealth to one of superior health. Cons: Don't get on this program if you're a moron and can't follow directions intelligently.
The book specifically states that the goal is not weight loss, though strict adherence to all of its tenets will likely lead to weight loss. The goal is overall health, which it quite clearly and resoundingly has been proven to enable.
Pros: You will feel your absolute best physically Cons: It can take some time to prepare and shop for the foods that you need. Especially if you have a busy schedule. Attempt a time change. It is worth it.
I've never really had a problem with weight, but when I found this book I was not very healthy. I knew that I needed to make some lifestyle change.
This book has changed my life. Plus I lost ten pounds in the process.
I will definitetly...
Pros: Best combination of methods Cons: Must find time to do the daily Mantra
Diets are great if you find one that you like and they work. Most people overlook the Mental Diet that can make the most important changes in your life. The best thing that you can do for yourself everyday is say a Personal Mantra. If you go to...
Pros: Solid nutrition, great digestion, easy to be on anytime, anywhere. Cons: Nada one, no cons, zip, zero, not one.
I have been on every diet imaginable. This is the diet I always come back to and don't know why I ever leave it. It is the one and only diet that makes any sense. It doesn't eliminate any food group - it promotes healthy eating - allows and even encourages lots of fruit and vegetables (unlike Atkins and other popular high protein low carbohydrate diets which restrict these life giving nutrients), it is so easy to stick to - you don't need to count points, weigh food, limit yourself in any way and I can eat all my favorite foods. I find on other diets where fruit and vegetables are restricted I feel tired, depressed, joyless and CONSTIPATED WITH BAD BREATH. On this diet, I feel alive, joyful, healthy and have incredibly regular and frequent bowel movements. I feel clean and healthy and never hungry. THANK YOU DIAMONDS.
