Pros: Most of the food was tasty, but some if was pretty cheap quality. Cons: Expensive, bad customer service, and it really doesn't work at all.
My experience with Nutri System and their customer service was terrible. I signed up for the nutrisystem and their counselors spoke with me and told me that with my weight, height, etc, I could lose the weight I need to lose, all I had to do is eat ...
Pros: IT WORKS!!! Prepared entrees won't allow for 'seconds' and overeating. Having the Vegetarian option is AWESOME! Cons: I didn't start this years ago!
So far the NutriSystem Weight Loss Program has helped me to not only loose weight but also reprogram my body to run more efficiently on less food. The first 2 days of the system with NO exercise I lost 3 pounds! That was a great start and it gave me the ...
Pros: Busy people and overeaters this is a good plan for you Cons: chemicals in the Nutrisystem food cause concern for long term use
I recently tried the Nutrisystem diet and here is what my experience was.... I signed up online which was easy and simple. Shipping took 12 days to get here. They substituted most of the lunch items for chicken caccatori which was ...
Pros: Food is packaged and requires little prep. Most of the food tastes pretty good. Cons: Requires buying food from the grocery store.
I started Nutrisystem on August 11, 2009. A friend of mine lost over 40lbs in a year of following the program. Back in 2005-2006 I lost 80lbs following the South Beach program overtime I drifted from those habits and gain back 70 of that in the last few ...
Pros: They sent me everything I ordered and did not sub out for any other foods. Cons: The taste is so disgusting I almost vomited!
The food was absolutely DISGUSTING!!! I tried a wide variety of foods. I have tried every diet imaginable and love lean cuisine and healthy choice diet meals. I knew not to expect gourmet food, but my gosh....this was DOG FOOD! It ...
Pros: none Cons: weight comes back on within one year
My husband was on this program two times. He's always had a weight problem. He followed the diet faithfully. Yes, he lost the weight both times went out and bought a new wardrobe and put it back on slowly. It is only a temporary weight loss. I would not taste the food. It just didn't appeal to me.
You lose weight because the foods are prepared with consideration for calories and needed vitamins.
I've had to watch him go on this diet against my wishes and prepare the foods. It's convenient and healthy but it will not teach you to eat properly. Therefore, all the weight will come back on once you go off the diet if you go back to eating regular food.
You can't eat out and expect to stay in control of counting calories and you can't stay on NutriSystem forever. Their food is way too expensive.
My suggestion, WeightWatchers counting points for foods available everywhere or/and change something in your lifestyle to help with weight loss. Most restaurants will help dieters with the points.
Staying at an ideal weight will always be difficult for some no matter what weight loss program is tried.
It Worked Wonderfully For Me!! by jess25 ,Jul 26 '04
Pros: It works!! Very easy to follow and leaves you satisfied. Food was really good. Cons: Cost-BUT it's worth it if other plans have failed!!
After having my second baby my weight had jumped to nearly 200lbs. I had always been around 130lbs, so this weight gain was very depressing to say the least. I battled with the pounds for over a year. Then I saw the NutriSystem plan on QVC and gave it a try. It was a life saver!! I really liked the food, and it was so easy!! I didn't really have a hard time with feeding everyone else in my family either....I was totally satisfied with the meal plan NutriSystem provided for myself so I didn't crave anything else (and I didn't munch on my kids leftovers either!!) I've tried other weight loss plans -including the latest low carb fad....which I know works for a lot of people, but it didn't for me. NutriSystem is balanced and lets you enjoy losing weight. I lost 13lbs in the first month...and the weight has continued to come off. I feel so good about myself again....It really really works!!
Not for Long-Term Dieters... by redstarr1 ,Oct 03 '04
Pros: Easy, convenient, with some variety. Cons: Expensive, of questionable quality, sugar substitutes.
I am about 30 pounds overweight, mainly because I love to eat. I saw one of the commercials for Nutrisystem, and decided to give it a try. I was very excited to get the package in the mail...until I started eating the food. I thought the cereal was delicious, and I enjoyed the breakfast bars. The lunches and dinners, however, were not the best. I liked the pasta dishes, but anything that had a lot of meat was pretty gross. I decided the next month to only order what I had liked and tried. So I got bored with the food.
I also had problems with the desserts because of the Maltitol. It made me very sick, and I've never enjoyed sugar substitutes anyway.
Bottom Line: I lost 10 pounds, but have not ordered the system again. This is a good diet for those who want to drop the pounds in a month or two, but not for years of eating.
Customer Service is the worst by racephoto ,Jan 26 '05
Pros: convenient Cons: high sodium, high sugar, poor quality control, expensive, not consumer-oriented...the customer is NEVER right.
Customer service is non-existent. I had a problem with my order, (shipped a week later than it was supposed to), no replies to any emails. Then I found out that they overcharged me by $32, once again, no email response. Today I spent almost an hour on the phone just to be told they raised the price in the week I waited and they won't honor the old price! Nice!
As far as the food goes, I don't know how it can be advertised as low-glycemic......my breakfast today had 11 grams of sugar. There are other items with too much sugar. And the sodium content is high too, one day I was over 4000mg for the day. That is way too much.
Quality control leaves a bit to be desired as well, I received a lemon poppyseed muffin with mold spots and a chocolate granola bar with an unsealed wrapper. Surprisingly enough, I got no answer to THAT email either. I don't feel like sitting on hold again to address that issue, I'm sure they will do nothing about that either.
I wish I could give them zero stars, because they don't deserve a single one.
Pros: Food OK, convenience good, eating more vegetables Cons: No weight loss, high sodium, high carb, water retention
At the end of week 1, I have not lost any weight and my daughter has only lost 1lb. We do not have a lot of weight to lose but wanted to lose about 15lbs prior to a vacation. It is extremely disappointing because we have been following the diet religiously. No one can suggest it is a lack of exercise as my daughter swims for 2 hours 6 days a week but has only lost 1lb and I have started to work out. The sodium level is very high and we believe that we are retaining fluids.
On the positive side, the food is OK, the convenience is great and we are definitely eating more vegetables, however if it simply does not work then as a diet it fails badly. Perhaps this diet works if you have a lot more weight to lose than 10-15lb? In any case, we are going to switch to the South Beach Diet for the next 4 weeks in order to lose our target lbs.
Pros: Wish I could think of one. Cons: EXPENSIVE, bland food, not as convenient as they say.
I ordered the plan and I was not impressed. Much of the food is powdered. It is expensive and you have to buy more at the grocery store, it is not a complete plan. When I tried to cancel the autoship they kept me on hold for 1 hour and 45 minutes. When I called to order they answered in 30 seconds. I had to call for advice one time and the guy on the other end obviously did not care about me at all. He was not helpful in the least. I found the best plan I ever followed was Richard Simmons deal-a-meal or foodmover, I got it a long time ago. I am going back to it. It truly works.
Pros: Quick, Easy, Good tasting Cons: A little expensive
I started the NS system last week to loose weight. So far I like the system, the food is pretty good and very good for the busy life I lead. If you have ever been in the military, the food kind of tastes like an MRE (Meal ready to eat). Its not bad, its just small! However, that is why I am in the spot that I am in now, I have issues with leaving food on my plate!
it works but the food tastes horrible!! by popsicle-toes ,Apr 24 '06
Pros: lose weight real fast without calculating calories or cooking Cons: the food taste.. yuck!
In all fairness to Nutrisystem, the diet works. But in all fairness to its consumers, the food sucks!! I caved and ordered its 1 month supply with free delivery and free 1 week extra food. I kept to this diet 100% during the first week and lost 10 pounds. But the food tastes sooooo horrible I couldn't stand it anymore by the second week. I finally decided to loose weight slowly by joining my local YMCA instead. I still watch what I eat and make a conscious effort to eat healthy. I haven't lost as much weight as I had with Nutrisystem but at least I am enjoying myself more than before. This diet works if you can stomach the food till you reach your goal. Unfortunately, I'm not one to torture myself for the sake of losing weight.
NutriSystem - good for people with not so good dicipline by aekopel ,Nov 03 '05
Pros: Good, healthy weight loss with proper portion control. Cons: Expensive and somewhat restrictive.
I started this program only a few days ago, and I'm happy that I am doing something for myself. I had lost weight on NutriSystem in 1989-1990 and I was successful with a 45 pound loss. Now 15 years later, I need help in the weight loss area, about 40 pounds (again). So far, so good. The meals are not what I would make for myself, but this is a means to an end for me. Yes, the food seems kind of expensive, but if you break it dowm, its 11.28 per day, 3.76 per meal. How often have you gone out and eaten lunch and spent $7.00? And then get take out for 15.00? To me its worth it because it teaches you what you have to do to be healthy and have proper portions for your meals. I like that I can drink milk, eat fruit, nuts, chicken, tuna, salad dressing (whatever you choose, as long as its fat free) and veggies. Don't forget that water!!! If you do choose to follow this plan, make it work for you, but take the advise from the literature that comes with the food and you are gauranteed success!
NutriSystem: Can you say disgusting? by lisamy ,Oct 15 '05
Pros: No thinking or cooking involved. Lost 9 pounds the first week. Cons: Too little flavor and substance. A big waste of money!
I ordered NutriSystem on QVC. I even lost 9 pounds the first week. Only because the food was so bad that I existed off of the salad and veggies that I bought to go with their meals. I bought this product because I thought not having to think about preparing each meal would be easy. And of course, I needed to lose weight. The flavor of the food was disgusting. I did the program for 2 weeks. That's all I could stand. The entrees were mostly sauce with very little meat. That is saying quite a bit coming from me. I am not much of a meat lover anyway. After reading other testimonies, I am glad I didn't try to send the rest of the food back. It is in the trash!
