Pros: Feel Great, More energy, weight loss results, relatively simple to follow Cons: a little confusion in product brands allowed, must be disciplined to eating healthy
*** The beginning of this is more like my story & how I came to begin Sugar Busters, then at the end I gave an explanation & more factual info from the book!
I recently decided after the new year that I needed to begin some kind of weight loss...
Pros: Works...for some people. Cons: Miss my carbs sometimes.
This is the second time that I have done this diet. The first time lasted about 3 months and I lost 20 pounds with no exercise. This time has been 4 months with exercise and I've lost about the same amount though I wasn't as heavy to start with....
Pros: Allows you to eat normally and have many of the things you enjoy. Cons: Makes it very hard to have fast food and eat at parties!
My mom was put on Sugar Busters by her doctor to help control her weight problem. Within a year she had lost over 50 pounds. The diet is from the book "Sugar Busters". There are no pills or prepackaged foods to buy. The main theme is to eliminate...
Pros: Basic Healthy Eating Lifestyle, it actually works. Cons: Can be intimidating, a lot of info to absorb.
While reading this, please keep in mind that this is not a review of the book. (That is elsewhere.) Rather this is a review of the diet plan, and how it worked for me.
This is an update of my previous review back in December of 2000. My...
Pros: They will make money off from you (well... it's a pro for them) Cons: The diet is restrictive, expensive, and will not necessarily help you lose weight.
The basis of the diet
Sugar busters was developed by three doctors, plus a man who followed the Sugar Busters eating plan. They claim that we have been hoaxed by the nutrition industry into believing that calories are the answer to weight...
Pros: it worked, felt better Cons: limited legal menu at restaurants
I decided to try this diet after my daughter was born. Since I was nursing her, I needed to find a diet that could supply me with all my nutrients and still help me to slowly peel off the excessive weight I had gained.
Pros: teaches about foods high in sugar Cons: doesn't limit fat, eliminates entire food groups
Here's yet another "miracle diet" that pretends to be based in scientific fact. The underlying theme of "Sugar Busters" is avoiding foods with a high "glycemic index", i.e., foods that are rapidly converted to simple sugars...
When I first started the sugarless diet I just knew it would be another fly by night diet I would try and it would not give results and Id giveup.
Well after studying about the different sugars I discovered that while my problem is not cakes pies...
I segued into this diet after I gave up (ran away??)from Atkins. I learned from Atkins that I do better eating fewer carbohydrates. I found Atkins too restrictive, so I went searching for a better alternative based on similar principles.
Note that I am not using the word "diet". I am of the school that considers "diet" to be a 4-letter word. Rather, Sugar Busters for me is a way of life.
Pros: Works if you can stick to it. Cons: Can't tolerate it for any length of time.
After reading the Sugar Busters Book, I started the diet with a lot of hope. Unfortunately, it was short lived. I did drop 8 pounds the first week, but found it hard to live with. It didn't sound like you would have to give up a lot of foods; white...
Pros: Great foods, easy to find at stores, no hunger Cons: great foods(lol) - no - none that I can think of
Let me preface this by saying that I tried low-fat dieting many times and never succeeded. It works great for many people, but for some of us, low-fat/calorie limiting/portion-controlled diets
simply do not work. It took me a long time to realize...
Pros: Introduces people to low-carb dieting Cons: Sets people up for failure by allowing too many carbs.
I decided to read Sugar Busters! after I had already taken the step and became a low-carb dieter. I first read Dr. Atkins book and then Protein Power and I highly recommend both of those books, but Sugar Busters! seems like a cheap imitation to me....
Pros: None to be seen. Cons: $$$$$, and it didn't work.
I have edited this opinion for the sake of my readers, who had questions.
I was prescribed on this diet by an endocrinologist. It was originally thought that I have hypothyroidism, but after being on replacement therapy for a while and still...
After having two children, I had put on a considerable amount of weight. I tried every diet and cut every corner possible, but remained the same.
I found the "Sugar Busters" diet on the Net, and decided to give it a shot. I had recently...
