1. What is Epinions?
Epinions is the web's most comprehensive shopping site, offering price comparison, consumer reviews & buying guides, and other resources geared towards helping shoppers make the best buying decision. We are not a store, and do not sell any products.
2. How many shoppers use Epinions?
Epinions attracts over 9 million visitors a month.
3. How does Epinions get traffic?
Epinions gets its traffic from several sources including repeat visitors, search engines, partner sites, and through online advertising. Traffic has grown more than 50% over each of the last three years.
4. How does the Merchant Program work?
Merchants sign up to be placed in our "Compare Prices" table. They are ranked by the CPC that they are paying. Merchants send us a data feed of their inventory which then gets mapped to the Epinions catalog. Merchants only get charged when a user clicks off to their product buy page.
5. Do I need to bid to get traffic?
No. Merchants sign up for a cost per click rate for a product category based on the current Epinions rate card; this gets a merchant a logo-ed listing in the compare prices table. Merchants seeking greater traffic levels can upgrade to the Featured Merchant program.
6. Why should I join the Epinions Merchant Network?
Merchants who advertise with Epinions are exposed to highly qualified shoppers who are ready to buy. If you are looking for cost effective customer acquisition programs, Epinions can help you. Our users have seen the product picture, read the specs, and have read feedback from their fellow consumers.
7. Which merchants use the Epinions Merchant Network?
The entire spectrum of retail is working with Epinions, from the largest branded retailers (Walmart, Office Max, Sears and more) in the country to established independent stores like J&R, B&H Photo Video, and Crutchfield.
8. How do I manage my Merchant Account?
Merchants have access to a traffic center where they can receive detailed reports on their clicks, costs, and most popular products.
9. How quickly can I get launched?
Merchants providing us with a data feed can be up on Epinions in less than a week. If we need to crawl your site, it may take a few extra days.
10. How do I pay for the traffic?
We require that you pre-pay for your first $500 worth of clicks. Pending a credit check, we will extend you credit on an ongoing basis, with payments due within 20 days of billing.
11. What is the minimum number of products that I need to list with Epinions?
We ask that you list at least 50 products on our site. However, exceptions may be made for specialty manufacturers selling direct.
12. What is the Epinions Merchant Review System?
Epinions has a section for reviews on merchants: http://www.epinions.com/browse/online_stores. Shoppers are required to submit their email address and sign up on Epinions before submitting a review. Submitted reviews are then rated by other users before they are displayed on Epinions. Only those reviews rated "Very Helpful" or "Helpful" are displayed.
13. What is Epinions' distribution strategy?
Epinions seeks to broaden its qualified traffic base through targeted advertising, search engines, and distribution partnerships with other sites. For example, Epinions is the exclusive price comparison partner for Half.com, an eBay company.
