Details: This mystery introduces Hallie Ahern, a reporter whose derailed career forced her to move from Boston to Providence, Rhode Island. She's also a woman addicted to lottery tickets and nightly phone calls to a political talk radio show. Feeding her lottery obsession at a local convenience store one evening, Hallie inadvertently witnesses the shooting death of the store's owner.
