More Information
Details: In a semi-notorious incident in 1996, physicist Alan Sokal published a paper in Duke University's academic journal Social Text titled "Transgressing the Boundaries: Toward a Transformative Hermeneutics of Quantum Gravity," that he later revealed to be a complete hoax, full of nonsense and clever jokes poking fun at the jargon of postmodernist criticism. In BEYOND THE HOAX, Alan Sokal provides an annotated version of the original fake paper, and includes several chapters with a similar theme: postmodern thought is based on flimsy foundations, and the contemporary world has begun to abandon much of its faith in evidence and reason.
