The magnesium alloy used for the EOS-1V is lightweight, yet possesses exceptional strength. This new material is hard to machine and was initially thought to be unsuitable for molding the delicate curved surfaces of the EOS body. Canon solved this problem with the application of ''thixo-molding'', an advanced injection molding technology. The EOS-1V was built to deliver top performance regardless of the shooting environment. Professional cameras must be impervious to sharp changes in temperature; they must also be resistant to water, sand and dust. In other words, the professional camera must work smoothly under a wide range of conditions. The EOS-1V has been developed and manufactured to reflect feedback from professional photographers who work in severe environments, as well as Canon's own expertise in this area. |
