This is an Enhanced audio CD which contains regular audio tracks and multimedia computer files. Catatonia includes: Cerys Matthews (vocals). Additional personnel: Elinor Bennett (harp); Chris Allen (hurdy gurdy); Matt Dunkley (strings); Osian Gwynedd (piano, Wurlitzer piano, Hammond B-3 organ); Paw Whyman (saw). This is an Enhanced CD, which contains both regular audio tracks and multimedia computer files. Another varied but enjoyable foray into bubblegum pop, and predominantly a vehicle for Cerys' honeyed singing voice, Catatonia's second album indicates a band still exploring several musical directions. After the philanthropic sentiment of the opening "Dead From The Waist Down," the mood deviates somewhat with "Londinium" which contains lyrics deriding the cost of living in London (surely a questionable statement from successful and presumably wealthy pop stars). Moving from a feeling of ennui to a more rousing pseudo-anarchic vein "Storm The Palace" begins with a spine tingling mantra as Cerys derides... |
