British rock band Oasis have been criticized as being one of the most derivative, unoriginal music acts of the 1990's. In fact, their music is distinctly recognizable, and it is this catchiness which highbrow critics instinctively condemn that has made them one of the most loved bands of the late twentieth century. While their irresistible pop songs have propelled them to incredible fame and wealth, it is the high drama of their personal lives which have made Oasis media darlings. Singer Liam Gallagher's arrogant, malevolent attitude and offensive antics are a thorn in the side of older brother (and Oasis mastermind) Noel.
