The 1997 NSX is available in two models - NSX coupe and the NSX-T (removable roof panel). Most notable improvements for 1997 include the new 3.2 liter V6, which increased engine size and horsepower from 270 to 290 horsepower. Significant upgrades have been made to the powertrain, brakes and steering, in combination with a new six-speed transmission. A Formula One inspired SportShift automatic transmission, which allows manual shift operation is available as an option. Other updates include, heat absorbing glass, theft deterrent immobilizer system, reshaped spoiler, machine-finished wheels and two bold new colors, Spa Yellow and Monte Carlo Blue. For 1997, the NSX increased only 4.5 pounds in total weight.
