A new model for this year, the ECHO is Toyotas latest entry into the compact market. The ECHO is offered in both two and four door models. Featuring a 1.5-liter 108-hp four-cylinder engine, the ECHO boasts 34 mpg in the city and 41 mpg on the highway in preliminary tests. The engine is coupled to a five-speed manual transmission. A four-speed automatic transmission is optional. Other available options include anti-lock brakes with daytime running lights, upgradable sound options, air conditioning, a sport body kit and a 60/40 split-folding rear seat. Other standard equipment included are tilt steering, color-keyed bumpers, front disc brakes, rack and pinion steering and whiplash-reducing front seat frames with integrated headrests.
