| The 2002 Golf has been carried over basically unchanged from last year. This popular hatchback is available in two trims, GL and GLS. Both may be equipped with either a 2.0L four-cylinder gasoline engine or a 1.9L four-cylinder turbocharged diesel. The diesel engine achieves an efficient fuel consumption rating of 42-mpg city and 49-mpg highway. All Golf models are receive a standard five-speed manual transmission, with a four-speed automatic available at extra cost. Standard safety features include four-wheel anti-lock brakes, side-impact door beams, and dual front and side-impact airbags. A power sunroof and 15-inch alloy wheels are available in the Luxury Package. An optional Monsoon eight-speaker premium sound system is also available. |
