Details: The dynamic, futuristic-looking Sony MHC-MC3AV mini home theater system is quite a package for something that fits comfortably on a bookshelf. It combines a 50+1 CD changer, an auto-reverse, dual-transport cassette deck, a tuner, a three-band equalizer and a five-channel amplifier. That amplifier produces 80 watts for the left, right, and center front channels, and 20 watts for each of the surround channels, with Dolby Pro Logic surround decoding. Sony builds in a circuit that prevents the amplifiers from distorting if you try to play the MHC-MC3AV too loudly. The equalizer puts on a real light show on the multi-color, nine-band spectrum analyzer that shows relative frequency levels. Sony presets 10 different settings for the equalizer and builds in several frequency boosts and contours to dramatize the sound, such as its "groove" effect.
