Product Details
Chateau Mouton Rothschild Pauillac 1998 has a lovely, vivid color, a fine, deep red with a cherry tint. The nose opens slowly, initially revealing some fresh fruit aromas of crushed blackcurrant and cherry mingled with discreet floral notes (violet and peony). More complex aromas appear with airing – leather, spice, vanilla, lead pencil –, highly distinctive and highly refined. The attack is rich, dense and substantial with round and stylish, perfectly integrated tannins; unctuous and expansive on the palate, the impression of fullness is amplified by superb aromatic expression on notes of toast and torrefaction mingled with wild berry fruit (blackberry, bilberry). The finish is compact and powerful: at once crisp and lush, fresh and substantial, softly fruited and vigorous, it shows the highly distinctive characteristics of a hot and very successful vintage.
