Despite opening up ANGEL DUST with a call for "something kinda laid back, something kinda mellow," Indo G pulls no punches on this slab of uncensored, hardcore gangsta rap. If you're looking for clever samples of pop songs, catchy singalong choruses or crossover potential, try Digital Underground. If you want undiluted stories of the street, delivered with rawness and urgency, ANGEL DUST is your best bet. While gangsta odes like "Remember Me Ballin'" offer some funky syncopation, dancing doesn't seem to be on Indo G's agenda. He's more concerned with painting bleak portraits of street thugs and those whose lives they affect. Simple, synth-filled tracks underscore the ominous mood of ANGEL DUST perfectly. |
