Personnel: George Morgan (vocals). Photographer: Randee Saint Nicholas. Like many country singers, Lorrie Morgan has known her share of luck and tragedy. She is the daughter of Grand Ole Opry star George Morgan, which helped to establish her name in the business. However, she was also married to singer/songwriter Keith Whitley, who died from alcohol abuse in 1989. This collection documents most of Morgan's greatest hits, as well as some of her other memorable singles. "If You Came Back from Heaven" was written for her late husband, and this tender ballad romanticizes the return of a deceased loved one. On this song, Morgan's voice is predictably mournful and grief-stricken. "Out of Your Shoes" is a tune about a different kind of fantasy. This suggestive lyric plays off of the idea of walking in someone else's shoes. However, it is decidedly twisted, allowing for a romantic tryst to occur between the storyteller and another girl's man. This album ends with "From This Moment On," a 1975 duet with Morgan's ... |
