Garmarna is a band from Sweden that combines the folk music of their native Sweden with contemporary rock and electronica. Emma Hardelin has a delicate, forlorn voice that recalls June Tabor and Sandy Denny, and the rest of the band utilizes everything from the usual rock instrumentation to violin, hurdy-gurdy and lute to loops, samples and dark electronic effects. "Brun (The Robber)" is a haunting lament, with a traditional Nordic folk melody contrasted with chilling textures that recall Wire circa 154.
