More Information
Details: U.S. edition. Personnel: Ian Anderson (vocals, acoustic guitar, flute, bamboo flute); Florian Opahle (acoustic guitar, electric guitar); John O'Hara (accordion, keyboards); David Goodier (glockenspiel, bass guitar); James Duncan (drums, percussion). Liner Note Author: Ian Anderson . Arrangers: Elizabeth Purnell; Ian Anderson ; John O'Hara; Andy Giddings. Ian Anderson chronicles both his past solo output and some Jethro Tull favorites on this orchestral outing, accompanied by the Frankfurt Symphony Orchestra and a quartet of non-Tull rock musicians. The perennial band favorite, "Bouree," originally a rock reworking of the Johann Sebastian Bach piece, is restored to something of its classical origins, while "Budapest," from 1987's CREST OF A KNAVE, benefits greatly from its beefed-up orchestral arrangement. An agreeably seasonal "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" hints at the potential holiday market for this high-quality tour through the prog-rock pioneer's back catalogue.
